1990s Suntory Loya

Loya's recipe is derived from the lifelong masterpiece of Shinjiro Torii, the father of Oriental whisky, the founder of Suntory and the first generation of chief blenders, and contains a vision of the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms falling in spring at the ancient archway of Shizuo Shrine next to the Yamazaki Distillery. With his keen sense of taste and the persistence of the Osaka people, Andi Nobujiro finally concocted the "Loya" that can be called the "golden ratio" recipe of whisky with the lofty ambition of "brewing the best whisky in Japan".

Suntory's founder, Nobujiro Torii, founded the Torii Shop (the predecessor of Suntory) in 1899 and introduced Akatama wine (now known as Akatama wine), and after the popularity of Akatama wine, he began to practice the creation of Japan's first distillery, the Yamazaki Distillery, in the Yamazaki area near Kyoto. However, due to the fact that the maturity of whisky takes many years, the investment funds and energy disappear into a bottle of oak barrels year by year, which caused opposition from the bottles when Suntory started, but Torii Nobujiro still tenaciously insisted on his dream, waiting for the original sake in the oak barrels to become a beautiful wine, and finally in 1929, the long-awaited first Japanese domestic whisky "Shiraza" was born.
