According to the police on duty, pedestrians and motorcycle drivers running red lights not only endanger their own safety, but also affect the safety of driving vehicles, which is likely to cause accidents such as crashes, rollovers, and rear-end collisions.
Article 89 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China stipulates that if a pedestrian, passenger or non-motorized vehicle driver violates the provisions of road traffic safety laws and regulations on road traffic, he shall be given a warning or a fine of not less than 50 yuan but not more than 50 yuan; if the non-motor vehicle driver refuses to accept the fine punishment, he may detain his non-motor vehicle.
If a pedestrian runs a red light and a traffic accident occurs between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian, according to Article 76 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, the liability of both parties is determined as follows: If a traffic accident occurs in a motor vehicle, resulting in personal injury or property damage, the insurance company shall compensate within the limit of the compulsory insurance liability of the third party liability of the motor vehicle; the insufficient part shall bear the liability for compensation in accordance with the following provisions: If the motor vehicle party is not at fault, it shall bear no more than 10% of the compensation liability. If the loss of a traffic accident is caused by a deliberate collision of a motor vehicle by a non-motorized driver or pedestrian, the motor vehicle party shall not be liable for compensation.
The traffic police brigade of the Chaoyang Public Security Sub-bureau calls on the majority of traffic participants to consciously abide by traffic safety laws and regulations, not to run red lights, not to rush the road, to consciously wear safety helmets when driving motorcycles, to travel in a civilized and safe manner, and to create a safe, orderly, civilized and smooth road traffic environment.
