Beijing, 1 Nov (Xinhua) -- Wang Yang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with Pompey, vice chairman of the Thai National Assembly and speaker of the House of Lords, by video link in Beijing on 1 November.

Wang Yang said: The brotherly friendship between China and Thailand and the two countries, which are close to each other, has endured for a long time, and their common interests are extensive and profound. China is willing to work with Thailand to implement the important high-level consensus of the two countries, further strengthen strategic communication, deepen anti-epidemic cooperation, jointly build the "Belt and Road", expand people-to-people exchanges, promote high-quality and accelerated development of China-Thailand relations, and make greater contributions to promoting regional peace, stability and prosperity. The Chinese National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference is willing to maintain close exchanges with the Thai House of Lords and continue to play an important role in enhancing mutual understanding between the two peoples and promoting the development of bilateral relations.

Pompeo highly appreciated the great achievements made by the CPC in uniting and leading the Chinese people over the past hundred years, saying that the Thai House of Lords supports Thailand-China friendship and is willing to continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and jointly promote the continuous and in-depth development of Thai-Chinese relations.
