Brief Introduction of Emperors of Previous Dynasties - Eastern Jin Dynasty (Sima Yu)

Sima Yu (320 – September 12, 372), courtesy name Daowan, was born in Wen County, Hanoi (present-day Wen County, Henan). The eighth emperor of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (reigned 6 January – 12 September 372), the younger son of Sima Rui, the Emperor of Jinyuan, and the half-brother of Sima Shao, emperor of the Jin Dynasty, and his mother was Empress Dowager Zheng Achun.

Sima Yu lied to the seven dynasties of Yuan, Ming, Cheng, Kang, Mu, Ai, and Emperor Rendi, and was enfeoffed as the Evil King of Lang and the King of Huiji. Emperor Mu of Jin was then a general of the Fu Army and a lu shang shu shi, and co-assisted the government with Shang Shu Ling He Chong. After He Chong's death, Sima Yu became the prime minister of the imperial government, and yin Hao and others were invited to participate in the government against the increasingly authoritarian Sima Huanwen. Yin Hao's Northern Expedition was defeated and was abandoned by Huan Wen. After the deposed emperor Sima Yi ascended the throne, he was crowned the King of Langya, and then took the throne as a chancellor and recorded Shangshu. In November of the sixth year of Taihe (January 372), Huan Wen made Sima Yu emperor. After Sima Yu ascended the throne, he was mostly restrained by Huan Wen and could only "arch and keep the Tao", and after only eight months of reign, he collapsed due to grief and anger, and died at the age of fifty-three. Emperor Jianwen and Emperor Taizong were buried in Gaoping Mausoleum.

Sima Yu was good at talking, known in history as "Qing Huan, especially good At Xuanyan", and was a veritable Emperor of Qing Tan, and under his advocacy, the pre-Eastern Jin Dynasty metaphysics showed a rich development. There are five volumes of anthologies, which are now extinct.
