Jizhong Herald New Discoveries 4

Xiao Yin published a series of writing tutorial articles in the Jizhong Herald

Chen Jiaji

Xiao Yin, whom we are now familiar with, is a literary scholar and literary critic. Xiao Yin wrote a wealth of literary and art criticisms in his lifetime. But when did he start working in literary criticism, and the academic community seems to know and narrate much.

The hebei people's published article in 1990 has the following description in the book "Jizhong Herald Historical Materials":

"In 1946, the writers Yang Shuo, Fang Ji, Sun Li, Xiao Yin, and other comrades came to the Jizhong Herald from other liberated areas, so the editorial department added a supplement section, and on December 10, 1946, the newspaper published the first supplement, and by November 26, 1947, the supplement was published to one hundred and forty-seven issues."

Hebei People's Publishing House published "Jizhong Herald Historical Materials" in 1990

From November 1946 to March 1947, Xiao Yin served as the deputy editor-in-chief of the Jin-Cha-Ji Daily.

If Xiao Yin had accumulated rich experience in running newspapers, especially supplements, in New China Daily (1938-1939), Xinhua Daily (Taihang Edition) (1939-1940), Jin-Cha-Ji Daily (October 1945-October 1947), and Beiping Three Days of Liberation (February-29, 1946) (February 29, 1946), xiao Yin was a supplement editor-in-chief of Jizhong Daily.

The book "Jizhong Herald Historical Materials" has the following description of the content of the supplement:

"From June 15, 1945 to the end of the 1949 edition of the Jizhong Herald, there are three main types of works published in the literary and art supplement:

"(1) Literary and Art Criticism. There are writers Xiao Yin who wrote "On themes", "On the Introduction to News", "On Emotions", "On Images", "On Reality", "On Formalism" written by young authors..."

This time, I found several of them in the newspaper clippings:

"On Emotions: The Fifth Sense of Creative Thought"

"On Emotions- The Sixth Sense of Creative Thought"

"Talking about the theme"

"Talking about Image"

"On Reality"

"On Formulaism"

The subtitle of the first two articles is "Creative Thought Zero Sense". I can tell it's a series of articles. Now that we see only five and six, where is the previous one to four? There are seven and eight behind... Do you?

The last four are obviously writing tutorials that answer readers' questions, and are also a series, and it is estimated that there are more than these few articles.

I also hope that readers who see my article will be able to look for Xiao Yin's writing guidance articles published in the Jizhong Herald that year.

The "Introduction to the Trial News" mentioned in the book "Jizhong Herald Historical Materials Collection" was not seen this time. The titles of the articles mentioned in the book also differ from the words actually seen in the briefing, such as "on" and "on", which should be based on what is actually seen in the newspaper clippings.

From the above historical materials, it can be seen that as early as 1946, Xiao Yin began to study the theory of literary and artistic creation and tutor young authors. Starting from these small articles in the Jizhong Herald, Xiao Yin went step by step, worked hard for decades, and eventually became a famous literary and art critic in the Chinese literary and art circles.
