CHANEL Spring/Summer 2022 collection, Chanel romantic French vintage Show, piece by piece "deadly" series

Set against The Place Joffre, Chanel's Spring/Summer 2022 show is an ode to the fashion show.

Virginie Viard's latest collection is a nostalgic journey back to the late '80s and early '90s, when photographers rushed to the side of the raised track. The models spun and posed on the catwalk as if it were a show from 1989.

Inspired by fashion photographers, Viard chose to honor them with a series of portraits by Inez and Vinoodh, including Lily-Rose Depp, Alma Jodorowsky, Blackpink's Jennie, Rebecca Dayan and Quannah Chasinghorse all holding cameras.

The season's costumes open with models wearing swimsuits, bike shorts and miniskirts to showcase Viad's interpretation of the new sexiness. The collection showcases the concept of #Spice Girls Summer in a mature perspective – a simple white and gold swimsuit, a multi-coloured crochet and denim Chanel set, and an cardigan with carved shoulders. In a way, the combination of movement and class is a perfect embodiment of the previous fashion era.

Chanel's Spring/Summer 2022 show is entirely nostalgic, as it condenses the retro glamour and chic feel of the '80s show.
