Qin belongs to Guilin County. At the beginning of the Han Dynasty, it belonged to the State of South Vietnam. In the sixth year of the Western Han Dynasty (111 BC), Guangxin County (guangxin) was established as guangxin county (in present-day Wuzhou city), and the present-day county belonged to Guangxin County. In the third year of the Sui Kai Emperor (583), Guangxin County was changed to Cangwu County, with the name of the county. In the nineteenth year of the Kai Emperor (599), Suicheng County was changed to Rongcheng County, which belonged to Fuji Prefecture. In the third year of Daye (607), Ningxin County in the province was transferred to Cangwu County, and Mengling County was abolished into Haojing County. In the fourth year (621) of Tang Wude, Mengling County was restored and renamed Mengling County, which belonged to Tengzhou; in the eighth year of Zhenguan (634) it was changed to Wuzhou; in the first year of Tianbao (742) it was changed to Cangwu County; in the first year of Qianyuan (758) it was renamed Wuzhou; and in the fourth year of Gwanghwa (901) it was changed to Guizhou.

In the fifth year of Song Kaibao (972), Mengling County was abolished and merged into Cangwu County. In the fourth year of The Xining Dynasty (1071), Rongcheng County of the province was incorporated. Yuan belongs to Wuzhou Road, which is Luzhi. The Ming and Qing dynasties belonged to wuzhou prefecture and were governed by the prefecture.

In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Cangwu County was incorporated into Wuzhou Capital, and the following year (1913) Cangwu County was restored, which belonged to Yujiang Province. In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), it belonged to Cangwu Road. In the sixteenth year of the Republic of China (1927), the county area and the surrounding area were separately established as Wuzhou City. In the nineteenth year of the Republic of China (1930), it belonged to the Seventh Militia District. In the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932), Wuzhou City in the province entered Cangwu County, which belonged to the Wuzhou Militia District. In the 23rd year of the Republic of China (1934), it belonged to the Wuzhou Administrative Supervision District. In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), it belonged to the Third Administrative Supervision District.

In 1949, it belonged to Wuzhou Special District. In 1950, it was separated from the province of Wuzhou. In 1951, it belonged to Rong County Special District. In 1952, the county administration was moved to Longwei Town. In 1958, it belonged to Wuzhou Special District. In 1971, it belonged to Wuzhou District. In 1984, it belonged to Wuzhou City. In 2013, Longwei District was separated and the station was moved from Longwei Town to Shiqiao Town.

Cangwu County is located in the eastern part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and in the northern part of Wuzhou City. The station is located 50 kilometers northeast of the municipal people's government station. It is located at longitude 110°50′—111°39′ east and latitude 23°25′—24°10′ north. It is bordered by Babu District of Hezhou City and Fengkai County of Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province to the east, Wanxiu District and Changzhou District to the south and Teng County across the Xun River, Fujian County and Zhaoping County of Hezhou City to the west, and Zhaoping County, Pinggui District and Babu District of Hezhou City to the north. The total area is 2,783.49 km². It has jurisdiction over 9 towns: Shiqiao, Lingjiao, Jingnan, Shizhai, Liubao, Libu, Mushuang, Shatou and Wangfu. The county people's government is stationed in Dong'an Street, Shiqiao Town. There are 407,600 people, mainly Han Chinese, but also Yao, Zhuang and other ethnic groups.
