According to Japanese media reports, the incident occurred in the city of Chofu in Tokyo. At about 20:00 local time on October 31, a man on a train on the Keio Line in Tokyo suddenly slashed at the surrounding passengers with a knife, and also spilled unknown liquid and set fire to the carriage. As of the early morning of November 1, a man about 70 years old had been stabbed, seriously injured and unconscious, and 16 others had been taken to the hospital for treatment due to smoke inhalation, etc.

At present, the suspect has been arrested by the police. According to police, the suspect is 24 years old and unemployed. The suspects said he was sentenced to death for attempting murder by a knife wound in August. Investigations are still ongoing.
