Beijing News: What do the four components of "Four Masterpieces" tell? How are they related?
Zuo Xiaozu Mantra: The Four Masterpieces are divided into "The Nectar", "Immortal Society", "Mona Lisa" and "Jianghu", which tells the strange events of a Mongol in Gannan, Southwest, Xinjiang, Tibet, Nepal and India. "You Know Which Side of the East" was released in the spring of 2008, I wanted to be able to do the "Orient" in my hand, and it was difficult to complete "The Orient", from 1995 to 2007, it spanned 12 years, which was the integration of my feelings and senses. And "Four Masterpieces" was made from the end of the last century in 1999, when my physical strength and feelings were at the best stage of my life, and I didn't know when I made it, but I just hoped that it would be possible to surpass myself, I thought it was impossible to surpass the double album of the volume of "Do You Know Which Side of the East" was impossible, it was impossible, it was impossible, but as an artist, it was actually very important to be cool.
"Do You Know Which Side of the East" has passed for ten years, and to this day it has not been understood by the audience, it is still niche music, but it is undoubtedly a classic. Beijing News: Why is the preparation time as long as 20 years? What was the hardest part of the prep process for you to overcome?
Zuo Xiaozu Mantra: The volume of three hours is too big, and it is also wonderful, not too easy to do. In fact, there is no preparation, where to go, aimless, aimless walking and walking will also come out of a system. In the past, almost all of my albums were thought of before they began, or at least a name was set first, not to tell you that this time the "Four Masterpieces" was not named until last year. I wrote a musical story with Mongolian protagonists, almost four records to put down, then called "Four Masterpieces", there is no traditional sense of that kind of relationship, I feel that these things are there and do not have to think hard.
Beijing News: Why do you think that some people do not believe that this "Four Masterpieces" will surpass all your previous works? What do you think you are transcendent? Is it meaningful to start releasing this album at this point in time?
Zuo Xiaozu Mantra: I say that transcendence is transcendence, and judgment is an extraordinary skill. Saying that there is any special significance, as if I am a bit of a rip-off, in an era of singles, the era of no new songs in the draft, Zuo Xiaozu's release of four albums of nearly 190 minutes is undoubtedly a fool, maybe I am too ridiculous, and I have a lot of time to do art when I am older.
