The Turbulent State of WagangZhai (01) Zhai Rang Shang Wagang
The name Ofe Prefecture began in the sixteenth year of the Sui Dynasty (596). In 581, Yang Jian declared himself emperor in Chang'an to establish the Sui Dynasty for Emperor Wen of Sui, and the nearly three-hundred-year division since the end of the Western Jin Dynasty finally came to an end. Due to the great turmoil during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the administrative divisions of China were quite chaotic, and in 583 (the third year of the kaihuang), the Sui Dynasty changed the original three levels of local administration of prefectures, counties and counties to the prefecture and county levels. In 589, Qizhou was established in Huatai City, and seven years later Qizhou was changed to Huazhou, which administered Baima, Lingchang, Weinan, Puyang, Fengqiu, Kuangcheng, Zhencheng, Weicheng, and Lihujiu Counties. In 606 (the second year of Daye), the second year after the Sui Emperor ascended the throne, Huazhou was renamed Yanzhou. In 607, Yanzhou was renamed Dong Commandery (東郡).
After the Sui Dynasty Emperor Yang Guang ascended the throne, he began to display his "grand plan". In less than a year in 605, Yang Guang built the eastern capital Luoyang, in 605-610 he dug the Grand Canal, and in 611 Yang Guang could not wait to launch the first expedition to Goguryeo, but was defeated.
The Sui Emperor Yang Guang, who had suffered a defeat, was not convinced, and in 613 he made another expedition to Goguryeo. This time, seeing victory in sight, who knew that there was a fire in the backyard, and Yang Xuangan, the son of the founding father Yang Su, was reversed in Liyang (present-day Xun County), and Yang Guang had to hurry back to "extinguish the fire". Since then, the Great Sui Dynasty has been shaking continuously, and the world has been in chaos! In fact, in the area of Wagang in Dong County, a group of people had already erected a large anti-Sui banner.
Wagang used to be a humble little place. Before Wagangzhai became famous, the only record of Wagang in the history books was this one thing: in the summer of 520 BC, when the State of Qi attacked the State of Lu, the State of Lu asked the State of Jin for help, and the State of Jin kept its promise to rush to the site of the alliance as scheduled. The Lu people were very grateful for the rescue of the Jin state, so they built a pavilion in the place where the two countries were allied to commemorate it. This pavilion is called Wating, but the common people feel that this pavilion is built on top of an earthen mound, and it is more appropriate to call it Wagang, so it is called Wagang and spread to the world. In addition, there is nothing commendable in the Wagang land boundary, on the sparse population here, on the wealth here there is no specialty, on the risk can not be talked about here, on the territory here in addition to the dense forest and loess ridge there is nothing to praise.
However, after the Sui Dynasty Emperor opened the Grand Canal, the place of Wagang was different! To the north, it is close to the Yellow River Baima Ferry, and to the south, it is adjacent to the Tongji Canal. Here the thieves have become a land treasure, they can rob the boats on the river, and they can quickly hide in the mountains and forests to protect themselves. Zhai Rang took a fancy to Wagang and chose to set up camp here and make the grass king.

Zhai Rang
Zhai Rang, Zi Qian, a native of Weicheng (present-day Southeastern Sister Village, Huaxian County) in the late Sui Dynasty, his parents died when he was young, he did not read much, but he practiced a good martial art, Xiao Yong had courage, and also taught many apprentices, loved to fight and hold unevenness, and had a high prestige among the people, and the official government invited him to be a Fa Cao (a small official in charge of prisons) in the Yamen of Dong County (county rule in Baima) in order to take advantage of his martial arts and prestige. He was loyal and made many close friends. However, Zhai Rang was imprisoned in a large prison for some reason for committing a capital crime, and the prison official Huang Junhan thought that he was not an ordinary person and "could save the lives of the people", so he secretly released him at night regardless of the safety of his followers. Zhai Rang ran all the way south and stopped near Wagang. Feeling that the terrain of this place is good, I simply asked some young and middle-aged people such as the eldest brother Zhai Hong, nephew Mohou, and Wang Ruxin of the neighborhood to raise the uprising flag in Wagang (40 miles from their hometown). It was the seventh year of Daye (611).

Later, Zhai Rang's fellow countymen Xu Shixun (i.e., Li Ji), Shan Xiongxin, the former county official Bing Yuanzhen, and Jia Xiong, who was good at divination, also came to defect. Zhai Rang then took Jia Xiong as his military division, Feng Yuanzhen as his secretary, Xu Shijian and Shan Xiongxin as the leading generals, and his subordinates Duoqi and Jijian fishermen and hunters created the Wagang Army based on Wagangzhai.
