Ordinary people may only know shennongjia savages and Himalayan snowmen, because these two savage legends have been on mainstream television stations and have the widest spread, in fact, China's savage legends are more than these two.
Savage is a general term for unidentified primates, and the more formal academic name is "erect higher primate strange animals". Wildlings have a very high status in mystical zoology and are frequent visitors to various hunting magazines. Savage legends are found on all continents, and even Antarctica has the rumor of "Antarctica" Ningen, a character created by the Japanese 2ch Forum in 2002, and gradually evolved into an urban legend.
Due to the lack of conclusive evidence, savage legends can be classified into folklore and urban legends, and some savage legends can also be counted as marketing gimmicks.
The main savage legends in China have these.

Shennongjia Savage, is an unknown humanoid creature that haunts the Shennongjia tourist scenic spot in Hubei Province, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has organized three carpet scientific expeditions to the Shennongjia forest area since the 1970s, and has not found any clues about the savages. On December 14, 1998, Chinese officials officially announced for the first time that there were no "savages" in Shennongjia. But this rumor is still very popular, on the one hand, thanks to the continuous publicity and publicity, on the other hand, thanks to the large number of believers. According to the "Shennongjia Forest District 2019 National Economic and Social Development Statistical Communiqué", in 2019, the whole region received 18.285 million domestic and foreign tourists, 47,000 overseas tourists, and achieved a tourism economic income of 677671 million yuan in the region.
The snowman is a legend of the wild man in the Himalayas, prevalent in Tibet and northern South Asia, on tv, I remember a program in a temple claiming to preserve the bones of the yeti, but take a test, found that it is a bear bone. In 1996, a video of the Yeti's activities was widely circulated (above), and it was later confirmed that it was produced by Paramount.
The Moon Mountain Savage is a savage that inhabits the Moon Mountain area of Guizhou Province, dating back to 1930, and nearly a thousand people have claimed to have witnessed the wild man over the decades. On January 18, 1996, an old man in Rongjiang County, Qiandongnan, Guizhou Province, was suspected of being killed by a wild man attack.
The Black Bamboo Gully Savage is a wild man who haunts The Black Bamboo Ditch in Sichuan. Heizhugou is located in Ebian County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, 144 kilometers from Leshan City. Heizhugou has been developed as a provincial scenic spot in Sichuan and became a national forest park and a national nature reserve in 2000. Heizhugou is known as the "Bermuda Triangle of China", but the Bermuda Triangle itself is hyped up.
Xishuangbanna Savage is a legend of savages that spread in the Mountains of Xishuangbanna in the last century. In the middle of the last century, many places in the Xishuangbanna Mountains were still slash-and-burn. The villagers burned the famine year after year, and as a result, the cultivated land was getting farther and farther away from home. Later, some people said that there were "wild people" in the mountains, and the villagers were too frightened to go to the fields. Therefore, the authorities sent experts from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Beijing Institute of Zoology and the Kunming Institute of Zoology to investigate, led by paleoanthropologists Wu Rukang, Wu Xinzhi and Pan Qinghua. As a result, two gibbons were caught and placed at the door of the county guest house for the villagers to identify, and some of the villagers shouted at the sight: "These are them!" That's it! "There are also fellow villagers who think gibbons are not the wildlings they see. Whether it is or not, this problem is solved anyway, and Xishuangbanna has been successfully developed.
The "Upside-FootEd Fairy" is a legend of wild people in the Tongbiguan Nature Reserve in Yunnan, and the prototype may also be gibbons. There are 6 species of gibbons distributed in China - west black-crowned gibbon, eastern black-crowned gibbon, Hainan gibbon, northern white-cheeked gibbon, white-palmed gibbon, and tianxing gibbon, of which the skylong gibbon is a new species named by Chinese researchers in January 2017.
The Changing Woman is a humanoid ghost that spread around Guizhou, and according to legend, this ghost resembles a human but is short in size, and likes to abduct children and eat them. Such legends are widespread in the southwest region, and when I was a child, the countryside where I lived also had the legend of "savage gaga" (gaga is grandma), if the children disobeyed, the adults would use the wild gaga to intimidate, "If you don't obey, I will call the wild man gaga to eat you!" The same role as this is the "water ghost", is the elderly in order to prevent children from drowning in the water and made up the story, every summer, the elders will tell the children, do not go near the pond waterhole, beware of the water ghost will drag you down as a "stand-in".
Such legends have also gradually evolved into urban legends, which are circulated on the Internet.
There are also some sporadic, niche savage legends everywhere. For example, in 1953, a woman in Suichang County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, killed a "humanoid beast" that tried to harm her daughter, and also cut off the hands and feet of the beast, and later the hands and feet were taken by a middle school teacher to make specimens, and in 1980 the specimen was found in the storage room of the First Middle School in Xiping Town, Suichang County. Zhou Guoxing, a researcher at the Beijing Museum of Natural History, rushed to the local area immediately, obtained the specimen, compared it with humans and other primates, and finally determined that the specimen belonged to a large individual short-tailed monkey. The "monkey" recorded in the "Suichang County Chronicle" is the short-tailed monkey.
In 1982, someone in Henan sent Zhou Guoxing a "wild man" sole for examination, which was identified as a bear paw. During Zhou Guoxing's expedition to Xinjiang, geological engineer Zhao Ziyun told Zhou that he had tracked down and killed three suspected "wildlings", but all of them were brown bears.
Yuan Guoying (who was also involved in the Kanas Lake Monster Incident) believes that there are at least 7 or 8 species of wildlings in Xinjiang, distributed in the Altai Mountains, Altun Mountains, Kunlun Mountains and other regions, known to include: the "Red Willow Baby" in Urumqi, the "Little Mao people" in the Baluk Mountains, and the "Big Mao People" on the Pamir Plateau.
In 1985, an organized purchase of a specimen of a "wild man" at a high price in Xinning, Hunan Province, was later identified as a short-tailed monkey.
In 2009, three black savages were found in the nearby mountain forest in Dayou Town, Nanchuan District, Chongqing. The Chongqing Evening News asked animal experts that it was believed to be most likely black langurs.
Changbai Mountain has also made wild man rumors, and has also been on the "Classic Legend", which is estimated to be a product matching with the Changbai Mountain Tianchi Water Monster.
Zhou Guoxing has identified countless so-called "wild man" specimens for decades, the results are monkeys and bears, Zhou Guoxing has also participated in the investigation of Shennongjia wild people, spent a lot of energy but did not find any clues about wild people, the "wild man hair" sent for inspection was identified as dyed human hair or other forgery, and the "wild man footprints" are mostly deformed animal footprints or artificial traces. So after the 1977 expedition, he felt that the authenticity of the wildlings was only 10%, and then the number gradually dropped to 0.
Zhou Guoxing believes that in many wild man eyewitness reports, except for those fabricated, most of the witnesses are in a state of high tension and panic, or too far away to see clearly, mistakenly regarding some known animals as "wild people", or some unknown animals as "wild people". Zhou Guoxing also believes that there are some fanatics who persist in finding "savages" who are actually self-hyping themselves with the attitude of competing for fame and profit.
Therefore, most of the wild man sightings are monkeys, bears and other wild animals are wrong, do not think that the mistake of animals is impossible, the phenomenon of animals is also common on the Internet, such as Zhang Guan Li Dai mourning the white sturgeon incident at the beginning of last year. There are also countless weasels (weasels) that are long in their hearts, but even the pictures can be mismatched, and slender ferrets such as weasels, weasels, yellow-throated minks, stoats, and tiger ferrets are often mistaken for weasels, and even once read an article written by the media about weasels, a total of 4 pictures, none of which are weasels.
▲ Think of the weasel as a weasel.
▲ Think of the stoat as a weasel.
Amateur photographer Martin Le-May photographs a shrew riding on the back of a European green woodpecker in London. But when it spread to the domestic network, it became a "weasel flying woodpecker".
▲ I don't even know the fox, I think it was deliberately water-pasted.
Now that the Internet is so developed and searching for information is very convenient, but so many people even weasels have confessed to mistakes, it can be seen that the authenticity of the reports of the wildlings of the last century cannot be guaranteed.
