The third emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty, Song Guangzong Zhao Huan, was a poor emperor.

When he was crown prince, he was worried that the position of prince would be remembered; after becoming emperor, he was worried that the emperor's throne would be plundered; he was only emperor for five years, but he spent most of his time recuperating... <h1>Youth shrouded in "uneasiness"</h1>
Zhao Wei's anxiety had existed for a long time. Even his entire youth was shrouded in an "uneasy" mood.
In 1167, Zhao Huan was twenty-one years old. That year, his eldest brother, crown prince Zhao Yu (qí), died of illness. The throne of the Prince is vacant. In order of long order, the position of crown prince should be replaced by the second brother Zhao Kai. However, his father, Emperor Xiaozong, felt that the old third Zhao Huan was "heroic and martial", so he wanted him to take over the position of prince.
Although he thought so, Emperor Xiaozong refused to make a decision. When the prime minister came to urge, the old father expressed his concerns in his heart- he was worried that once it was established, the prince would relax his self-requirements and become lax and arrogant, so he planned to test and train them for a few more years.
This delay lasted for four years, and it was not until 1171 that Emperor Xiaozong of Song officially made Zhao Huan crown prince. The father crossed the second brother and directly established himself as the prince, and while he was happy, I was afraid that he was a little uneasy - he was afraid that the future would change and he would not be able to succeed smoothly. So after becoming the crown prince, Zhao Huan lived carefully every day, he was diligent and self-motivated, humble and filial, and did not dare to slack off in the slightest. However, for more than ten years, Xiaozong had no intention of abdicating, And Zhao Huan was impatient, and one day, he tentatively asked Xiaozong, "My beard has begun to turn white, no, someone sent an ointment to dye my beard, and I didn't dare to use it." Emperor Xiaozong heard his son's voice and replied, "Having a white beard is good, just to show the world your old age, what is the use of dyeing whisker medicine!" ”
In this way, Zhao Huan waited for 18 years on the position of prince. It was not until 1189 that he received the throne of Emperor Xiaozong and ascended the throne as emperor for Emperor Guangzong of Song.
From the age of twenty-one, he was the heir to the throne in the eyes of everyone. But it wasn't until he was forty-three years old that he actually sat in that position. On the day of the inner zen ceremony, hundreds of officials came to celebrate, and Guangzong stood all the time. Supporting him seven or eight times left and right, he always sat down slightly and got up again. For this position, he had prepared for too long, suppressed for too long, and when this day really came, his "uneasiness" still did not seem to dissipate.
<h1>The body crushed by "fear"</h1>
Not long after ascending to the throne, Zhao Huan fell ill and his consciousness fluctuated from time to time. According to the symptoms, it should be what people call "neuropathy", and the people in the palace privately call him "Crazy Emperor".
Regarding the cause of the disease, the most direct irritating event is that once Zhao Huan left the palace to sacrifice heaven, Empress Li Fengniang killed his favorite concubine (related article link). Later, when the heavens were sacrificed, strange phenomena appeared frequently, one fire and one wind and rain, which stimulated his heart, and he went crazy when he came back.
But in fact, heart disease is not formed in one day or two days. Zhao Huan had been immersed in this emotion of fear and anxiety for too long. Moreover, compared to the vicious empress, it seemed that what frightened Zhao Huan even more was his father, Song Xiaozong.
After Zhao Huan ascended the throne, he wanted to make zhao kuo, the son of himself and Empress Li, the crown prince, but Emperor Xiaozong disagreed. Perhaps because of Zhao Kuo's cowardly nature, Emperor Xiaozong considered him unfit to inherit the throne, in contrast, Zhao Kai's son Zhao Kai,the Duke of Jiaguo, was born intelligent and was deeply loved by Emperor Xiaozong.
At first, Zhao Huan replaced his second brother Zhao Kai as crown prince, but now Emperor Xiaozong favored Zhao Kai's son, which invisibly made Zhao Kai jealous of his father. In his view, the father posed not only a threat to his son's position as crown prince, but also a potential threat to his own throne. Provoked by the empress and eunuchs with ulterior motives, this sense of fear gradually became a lingering shadow in Guangzong's heart, and his illness became more and more serious, and he was no longer able to handle the government normally, and from then on, "the political affairs were more decided than later".
Some people describe people who love anxiety this way: they will always be painful and regretful about what has happened; panic and nervous about unresolved problems; confused and worried about the unpredictable future. Medically, excessive anxiety can easily induce negative emotions such as resentment, fear, sadness, and anger, and these negative mentalities and emotions often become the cause of disease.

Ever since Zhao Huan became suspicious of his father, he became estranged from his father. Emperor Xiaozong lived in Chonghua Palace, and Zhao Huan avoided traveling far away and stopped going to greet An. Even on a big day like chongyang festival, no matter how the minister invited him, Zhao Huan refused to meet his father.
Over time, Zhao Huan's unfilial behavior spread throughout the imperial court and beyond. From the officials and gentlemen to the pawns of the peddlers, there was a lot of discussion; the students also stirred up a student tide, and hundreds of people collectively petitioned; many officials did not accept the letter and resigned one after another... The issue of the emperor's filial piety gradually evolved into a national political crisis.
In May of the fifth year of Shaoxi (1194), Song Xiaozong became seriously ill. In June, Song Xiaozong died of illness. In this period of more than a month, Guangzong did not go to Chonghua Palace once to ask questions, and did not preside over the funeral.
Song Xiaozong acted in filial piety to the world, but before his death, his own son not only did not show his face, but even did not preside over the funeral, which became a joke in the world? Therefore, Zhao Ruyu, the secretary of the Privy Council, secretly contacted Han Nongxin, the secretary of the Zhige Cabinet, and asked the empress dowager to come forward and let Guangzong Zen give the throne to Crown Prince Zhao Kuo, and the empress dowager agreed. On July 5, on the public occasion of the Hundred Officials' Tribute to Emperor Xiaozong, Zhao Ruyu proclaimed the throne of Zhao Kuo, the King of Jia, and the crown prince initially resolutely resigned, but was later forcibly draped in yellow robes and ascended the throne as emperor, in order to serve Emperor Ningzong of Song. The funny thing is that at this time, Song Guangzong was actually still in the dark.
Song Guangzong was thus "put in the Zen position". Yes, the things he feared the most in his life had finally happened, but had he ever thought about it — it was all about the "worry" itself. After that, his illness became more and more serious, and the palace attendants and palace ladies did not dare to mention sensitive words such as "Taishang Emperor" and "Inner Zen" in front of him.
Zhao Huan had been dormant for more than twenty years, but he had only sat on the throne for a short period of five years. In these five years, most of the time was spent recuperating, and finally withdrew from the stage of history in such an absurd way... In this life, he is really pitiful, sad, and ridiculous.

In fact, anxiety is everyone's. As the writer Rono May said, "Anxiety is the basic human condition."

Many times, anxiety does not arise from specific things or situations outside, but from imaginary dangers, even if the probability of it occurring is minimal. Of course, appropriate anxiety can push people forward, but excessive anxiety is a pathology.
The writer Feng Tang once confessed that he was an extremely anxious person. He has long been sleep deprived, and he will dream when he sleeps lazily, "Ten times he dreamed twice of dreaming of approaching the abyss, twice dreaming of walking on thin ice, five times dreaming of painting a huge topic tree to help customers clarify the core of the problem, the remaining one was dreaming of the college entrance examination, all the way to the examination room, without the admission ticket..." In short, every day lived in fear, and later he gave himself the nine-character mantra: "No hurry, no fear, no face."
Feng Tang
"Not in a hurry" is about an attitude towards time. After a person has done the effort that should be done, he should put it down, put it down in his hand, and let go of his heart. Be patient, have concentration, give yourself enough time, give enough time to the people around you, give things enough time to happen and develop.
"Not afraid" is about an attitude towards the outcome. After enough effort, after enough patience, the results are often good. Before the good news comes, worrying about whether the result will be good or not must be useless. Even if the result is not good, it does not mean that we are at the end of the road, life can still be heroic, as long as we are in, we can start all over again.
"Don't face" refers to the attitude towards other people's evaluations. Feng Tang's words to comfort himself were: "I have tried my best, what else do you want me to do?" What else can I do? Bite me, bite me. "An outcome is determined by too many factors, and there are many factors that you don't know, and even more that you can't control." So, let him go.
