Luan trees are widely used in the greening of urban roads in Shanghai, with lush foliage in spring, yellow flowers in summer and autumn, and when the flowers have not yet fallen, there are already red capsules hanging on the branches, which indicates the arrival of autumn and becomes a beautiful landscape in the streets of Shencheng in late summer and early autumn.
Luan tree is a genus of luan trees in the family Apocynaceae, with a tree height of more than 20 meters and a nearly spherical canopy. The flowers are yellow with red spots at the base of the petals, and the capsules hanging from the branches are wrapped together by three peels, hollow inside, shaped like a conical lantern, and when ripe, they are reddish-brown or orange-red, often referred to as "lantern fruits".
