On December 4th, the fish breeding team of Chen Kunci, a researcher at the Pearl River Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, conducted a sex identification of the all-male black-spotted hybrid fish cultured during the year, and the male rate was 100% by randomly fishing 50 fish, and the random test results showed that the world's first all-male hybrid breed has been successfully studied, and the technical obstacles to industrial development have been basically removed.
The research on the breeding of the all-male hybrid snakehead was completed by Chen Kunci's team with the support of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" National Science and Technology Support Program project and the public welfare industry (agriculture) scientific research project, which took 8 years to complete. On the basis of the selection and breeding of snakehead and spotted snakehead, the team used sex reversal and molecular labeling assistive technology to create super-male YY spotted snakehead, and then used super-male spotted snakehead as the father and hybridized with snakehead as the mother, and successfully obtained an all-male hybrid snakehead with a male rate of 100%.

Snakehead is an important breed in China, with an annual output of more than 600,000 tons, and the unit price of large-scale individual market sales is higher. The individual growth of the all-male hybrid snakehead is 100%-200% faster than that of the female, which has the advantages of fast growth, large individual and high economic value, and is expected to increase the income of 30,000-50,000 yuan per mu compared with ordinary hybrid snakehead, which is of great economic significance.
