Loyalty against the ear is an idiom, and the good deeds lay it out in a pair: the loyal word is good for the ear, and the good medicine is good for the disease. It is not right to work, but it is a proverb for the world to do things. However, the advice of the anti-ear and the bitter medicine, in fact, the situation is not the same, the medicine is bitter, there is a disease, unless a very few people who are afraid of the disease, most of them will eat, although when eating, they may frown and pinch their noses. However, the treatment of the advice of the reverse ear may not be so, when people lose their power and go back to the word, they say some ugly advice to him, as long as the person who speaks is relatively close, they may still be able to listen to it, but once they are found, especially when the power is in their hands, even if they understand it again, they will not listen to the advice of the reverse ear. Perhaps, he will also regard this advice as a mockery or even jealousy of himself.

Yuan Shikai's title of emperor was the biggest failure of his life. If he hadn't become the Hongxian Emperor, Yuan Shikai would not have rebelled so quickly, and he would have fallen ill in the rebellion. Later history, how to move, it is really difficult to say. Although, we can't say that Yuan Shikai is all out of the vanity of being an emperor, the imperial system is self-made, and there are indeed realistic needs, out of the need to re-establish authority. After all, in China at the time, the emperor seemed more authoritative than the president. Under the circumstance that the Japanese forced the signing of the "Twenty-One Articles" and the arrogant soldiers in various parts of the country were increasingly disobeying the greeting, it was particularly urgent to regain their authority. Of course, after becoming emperor, the authority not only did not rise, but quickly fell, and the emperor who had carried the crime of restoration could not even return to the pot to be president.
However, when Yuan Shikai was proclaimed emperor, as far as the whole process was concerned, he was still very cautious, taking one step at a time and being cautious. However, once their own minds are seen through, more and more people will cling to them. What is heard in the ear and what is seen in the eyes comes according to one's own thoughts. Yuan Shikai later sighed that those who oppose it now are those who previously supported it. When the Hongxian imperial system was in full swing, there were voices of support everywhere, and even Yunnan, which later raised the flag and rebelled, also sent a telegram of support, and almost the whole country unanimously pushed Yuan Shikai to the stove and burned it raw.
In the unanimous support of the whole country, it is not that no one has any objections. The dissenters are just some of Yuan Shikai's old friends. One was Duan Qirui and the other was Xu Shichang, and these two felt inappropriate for Yuan Shikai to be called emperor, but they did not have deep persuasion, but only expressed their dissatisfaction with the passivity of action. There was also a good friend of Yuan Shikai when he was in his hometown, Wang Xitong, who was in the industrial circle at the time, also felt that something was wrong, but according to his own records, he did not rush to see him and express his worries. However, there were two old friends of Yuan Shikai, but they were not so reserved, and when the imperial system was at its hottest, they met Yuan Shikai directly, expressed their views, and bitterly advised Yuan Shikai not to take this move.
The two of them, one was Zhang Yilu, the former confidential secretary of Yuan Shikai, the director of the confidential bureau of the government affairs hall at that time, and belonged to the top of Yuan Shikai's staff. The other is not a small thing, his name is Yan Xiu, a very famous figure in the late Qing Dynasty, who served as a scholar in Guizhou during the Penghu Restoration, lost his official position because of support for the change of law, and during the New Deal of the Imperial Court, he was once again appointed as a waiter in the Faculty (i.e., the Ministry of Education), one of the backbone figures in the reform of the abolition of the Imperial Examination in the late Qing Dynasty. After empress dowager Xi's death, the regent took power and forcibly expelled Yuan Shikai to return home, and at that time, the legend in the dynasty was that the regent was originally going to kill Yuan Shikai and avenge Guangxu. Therefore, when Yuan Shikai left, few people sent them to him, but Yan Xiu went. Not only did he send Yuan Shikai, but he also played it the next day, criticizing the imperial court for not doing so appropriately, and demanding that chengsheng be taken back. As a result, the imperial court's order was not taken back, and yan xiu's black gauze hat was lost.
How many friends who will pay their confidants in this fight will be rewarded with death in their lifetime? After Yuan Shikai came out of the mountains again, he always wanted to repay Yan Xiu, but Yan Xiu always refused to accept it, did not enter the government as an official, and insisted on engaging in education as a non-governmental person. Such an old friend, after hearing the news of the imperial system, came to Beijing to persuade himself, according to the reason, Yuan Shikai should be able to listen to it, but he did not listen to it. When Wang Xitong learned of the news of the imperial system, he did not want to rush to persuade him, and went to talk to Yan Xiu, and Yan Xiu replied, saying that he had already spoken, but Yuan Shikai only spoke official language, and asked him to go to the Chu'an Association, but was the Chu'an Hui a reasonable place?
In this way, the imperial system was completed, Cai Yi rebelled, the various places became independent, and Yuan Shikai was seriously ill and could not be saved. At this time, Yuan Shikai sighed and said, Zhang Yilu and Yan Xiu, never cared about fame and fortune, but guoshi, such a guoshi urged me not to be called emperor, but I did not listen, but I was led by a group of lilu disciples to make a big mistake, which was really ashamed.
Later generations commented on the Hongxian imperial system, always like to mention Yuan Shikai's eldest son Yuan Keding's private printing of the Shuntian Times, in fact, as long as Yuan Shikai wants to know, the real news he can know, different opinions, some people dare to put forward. However, whoever climbs to the highest level, has a high position of authority, and there are too many people around to speak, the idea becomes more and more correct, and the advice of the contrarian ear naturally cannot enter. To tell the truth, Yuan Shikai is fine, there is still a capacity for people, if you change one, like Yan Xiu, who relies on his old face to sing the opposite tune, his head may not be protected.
As the saying goes, the situation is stronger than people, in fact, the position is also stronger than people. The chair under the ass often determines the chair of the person's head.
