On October 28, the staff of the Hukou Protection and Monitoring Station of the Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve Administration in Jiangxi Province accidentally found thousands of white-fronted geese in the waters of The North and South Ports of Hukou County to feed in the waters of The North and South Ports of Hukou County, marking that the main force of wintering migratory bird migration has arrived at Poyang Lake.

At about 8 o'clock in the morning of the same day, the monitors in the waters of the north and south ports of Hukou County saw that the mudflats after the water receded were exposed, the green grass grew out, and a large number of wintering migratory birds on the lake beach either hovered at a low altitude, or looked down to feed, or whispered with their necks.
Yu Jinping, director of the Hukou Conservation and Monitoring Station of the Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve Management Bureau: We found that there are about 2600 white-fronted geese, more than 1320 ordinary cormorants, and more than 200 white spoonbills. This is the largest number of migratory birds since wintering this year, and the largest group.

the water level of Poyang Lake continues to drop in mid-November, and the peak of wintering migratory bird migration will be reached

Yu Jinping introduced that with the continuous improvement of the ecological environment, Poyang Lake is rich in fish, shrimp, snails, mussels and various aquatic plants, and has become a paradise for migratory birds to roost over the winter. Poyang Lake changes greatly during the flood period and dry period every year, the water level recedes, the lake beach re-grows tender grass, and the waters of Poyang Lake usher in the second spring of each year.
According to the monitoring of the hydrological department, at two o'clock in the afternoon of the 29th, the water level of The Xingzi Station of Poyang Lake dropped to 13.18 meters, and showed a gradual downward trend, about to end the flood period. Mid-November is expected to reach the peak of this year's wintering migratory bird migration. At that time, there will be more than 20 kinds of birds such as white-fronted geese, small swans and cormorants in the waters of Poyang Lake, among which there will be more than 10,000 migratory geese such as hong geese, bean geese and white-fronted geese, and the total number of migratory birds will exceed 40,000.
