At Guanghua Prison in Shayang County, Hubei Province, when it comes to Chen Zebin, a police officer in the Ninth Prison District, the impression of everyone is that the officers are particularly serious.

Born in May 1958 and joined the party in November 1985, the party member police officer has worked in prison law enforcement for 41 years and will retire next year.

Do the little things

Chen Zebin's ninth prison area is a logistics prison area, and in the ninth prison area, he has to get up at three o'clock in the morning to take the inmates to make breakfast. When it was Chen Zebin's turn to work, he was the first to get up. Colleagues commented that he was "the first person to get up early to go to bed", but he smiled and said: "Old, less sleepy, get up early to do some preparations, let other comrades rest more." ”

"The main class should arrange the work processes such as hair tools, side dishes, dish cutting, cooking, and rice; the deputy class should lead the inmates to do a good job in collecting food trucks, washing cars, washing dishes, loading dishes, cleaning, etc., and at the same time supervise and do a good job in cleaning and hygiene, code of conduct, and so on." When it comes to work, Chen Zebin is like a family treasure.

At the beginning of this year, the Ninth Prison District re-planned the canteen functional area. During the renovation period, there are many personnel and tools at the construction site, he strictly manages the dangerous tools, and when they are issued, they are carefully registered; when the work is finished, he must check the collection table one by one and put them into storage, and there is not a single case of error.

"It's all small things, and over the years, I've had a single thought and tried my best to get the little things right," he says.

During the noon and evening meal hours in the prison area, as long as he is on duty, regardless of the main and deputy shifts, he always comes to the dining scene early to maintain the order of the inmates' meals. "Old Chen is a man who can't stay idle." Colleague said.

Back in the preparation room, everyone wanted to take a breath, he picked up the broom again, went to clean the health of the office of the prison area, swept the floor, wiped the table and chairs, saw that the garbage can had garbage, he went to take out the garbage without a sound, and when he saw that the bathroom was not tidy, he took the initiative to clean up and rinse...

Someone joked: "Old Chen, they are all retired, and they still want to perform!" Chen Zebin always said: "I just do my duty and do every little thing well." ”

Love to take care of "nosy"

In addition to conscientiously implementing the daily work process, Chen Zebin also loves to care about some "idle things" related to the safety of the prison area, which makes him suffer.

One day at the end of May, it was raining heavily and the road was slippery. Chen Zebin, who was on duty in the prison area, saw that the rain outside the canteen almost flooded the road. He braved the rain to check whether the surrounding ditches were flowing smoothly, and when he walked to the edge of the house, he accidentally slipped on the soles of his feet, and he suddenly felt a flower in front of him and fell down heavily.

When he struggled to get up, he found that his clothes were worn out, and a pain in his waist and legs struck.

Colleagues advised him to go to the office to rest. However, he wiped some medicine, endured the pain, and without a word, brought several prisoners to clean the canteen.

Tian Dongfeng, the head of the prison district, looked at his arm bruised and red, and his heart was too much to go, saying: "Old Chen, or go to the hospital to see, pay attention to the body!" ”

Chen Zebin smiled and said, "Now that the canteen in the prison area is being renovated, one less person will increase the danger, and my injury will not hinder things!" ”

In June this year, the renovation of the prison canteen was successfully completed. Looking at the refreshed facilities and the standardized and orderly zoning, Chen Zebin smiled happily.

Job responsibilities are a big deal

Personal post responsibilities, in Chen Zebin's view, are a big thing.

In March 2017, Chen Zebin was on duty in the prison district. Colleagues called him in the prison area and said that he had an emergency at home and that his relatives tried to contact the unit.

At this time, Chen Zebin learned that his brother had died on the same day. Seeing Chen Zebin's sad look, colleagues' hearts were sour.

Seeing that he did not leave his post immediately, someone immediately said: "When is it, what class are you still on, go fast!" ”

Chen Zebin shook his head and said, "No, I can't leave my post without permission." ”

The colleague said incomprehensibly: "If such a big thing happens in your family, you should naturally deal with it." ”

Chen Zebin said with a sad mood: "The post in the prison area is a turnip and a pit, and the big things must also be handed over to the work." ”

After Yu Peihu, the chief duty leader and deputy head of the prison district, heard about it that day, he immediately asked the prison duty leader to coordinate and arrange Chen Zebin's post. After Chen Zebin and the police who took over the work, he left his post and went home to mourn.

Cherish the post and leave no regrets

Chen Zebin's family lives in Jingmen, and each commute has a distance of more than 100 kilometers, and for many years, he has never been late and left early.

In April 2016, Chen Zebin was in a car accident on his way to work and was taken to the hospital.

The doctor explained: "Your injuries are more serious, and you need to go through the hospitalization procedures." ”

He said to the doctor: "I'm afraid I can't be hospitalized, first deal with the injury, I have to go to work." ”

The doctor solemnly told him that he must be hospitalized or not treated. Chen Zebin went through the admission procedures.

After staying in the hospital for a few days, his injuries had just improved, and when he learned that the prison was starting a second creation activity, the unit was very busy, he couldn't stay up, and asked the doctor to go through the discharge procedures.

The doctor said he could not be discharged from the hospital and would have to be observed for a few days as required.

So, he quietly sneaked out of the hospital and returned to work. A few days later, he took advantage of his rest time to go to the hospital to go through the discharge procedures.

The family said with concern: "If you feel unwell, take a few more days off!" ”

Chen Zebin waved his hand and said, "Small pain and small injury, it's okay!" ”

After colleagues heard about it, they all sighed and admired: "People who are about to retire, still fight so hard, admire!" ”

He replied: "I don't have much time to work, and I don't want to leave with regrets when I leave!" ”

It is this affection for the unit and this love for the post that drives him to conscientiously perform every job responsibility and do every trivial job with hard work.

He is very ordinary, very ordinary, rooted in the prison grassroots for 41 years, day after day, his hair has changed from black to white, and the police uniform on his body has darkened due to years of wearing and washing, but the heart of the child who is pure to the prison cause will never fade.
