Alnwick Castle, Northumberland
Alnwick Castle, Northumberland

Known as the "Windsor Castle of the North", Alnwick Castle has been the residence of the Percy family for more than a thousand years. The Percy family is a bloodline of valiant warriors, explorers and scholars. Currently inhabited here are the Duke of Northumberland and his wife. A few years ago, they restored the garden and opened it to the public.
Many of the footage in the film Transformers: The Last Knight was filmed at Alnwick Castle, and it also made a stunning appearance as "Brancaster Castle" in the 2015 and 2016 Christmas specials of Downton Abbey. In addition, the Oscar-nominated movies "Elizabeth" and "Robin Hood the Prince of Rogue" were also filmed here.
Cliveden Manor, Berkshire
Cliveden House, Berkshire
Cliveden Manor is one of the most palatial manor hotels in the gold medal list all year round. It has been the residence of the British nobility for more than three centuries, and guests have stayed here including Charles Chaplin, Winston Churchill and George Bernard Shaw, as well as every king and queen since George I.
In the "Roaring 20s", a private invitation from Mrs. Astor was required to stay in the manor; now for a few hundred pounds anyone can stay in one of the exquisitely elegant, classically decorated rooms filled with antiques, Persian carpets and ancient paintings.
The Creveden Estate is managed by the National Trust and is open to the public during the day, but with an area of 1.52 million square metres, guests are not easily disturbed by the crowds of visitors.
Bonwood House, Wiltshire
Bowood House, Wiltshire
The boulevard leading to the villa is enough to excite lovers of history dramas. The Berwood House is a Georgian country house of First Class listed building, which is still home to Lord Lance Dorn and his wife.
Guests can stay at the Bowood Hotel, a new building set in an expansive manor house with interior design personally designed by Lord Lansdowne herself. The hotel has a stylish appearance and is a modern British country house. There are 43 bedrooms and suites, all named after ancestors, plus a club-style bar, a delicious restaurant, a spa and gym.
The rhododendron gardens alone cover an area of about 240,000 square metres and are colourful and full of life in spring, as well as a golf and country club.
For more royalty, opt for Queenswood Lodge, a Four-Bedroom House with exclusive space – not counting chefs, waiters and butlers.
Luton Hoo Estate, Bedfordshire
Luton Hoo, Bedfordshire
Once a Tudor mansion that was later converted into a neoclassical country house, Luton Hoo Manor was knighted by a succession of property owners before it was converted into a five-star hotel a few years ago.
The 4.31 million m² estate features a spa, Italian gardens, a fishing lake and a golf course. Booking a room in the main room instead of the box room will bring the best experience.
In addition to Brown's regular gardens, there are endless meadows, woodlands, lakes, rivers and nature trails to explore. The estate is equipped with a customised London taxi fleet that picks up and drops guests up and down for free.
Burlington Hall, Herefordshire
Berrington Hall, Herefordshire
Burlington is a neoclassical grandiose building designed by architect Henry Holland, and the undulating mansion landscape was designed by his father-in-law Brown, which was Brown's last work. Burlington is now part of the National Trust, where paintings, furniture and costumes are on display to the public.
Rustic red sandstone facades obscure the delicate neoclassical interior, including elegant mantelpieces, plaster craftsmanship, and Holland's most complex experiment in space, light, and color— the stairwell.
Holland also designed the chic Arc de Triomphe at the entrance to the estate, which was once the residence of coachmen. Guests can stay in two-bedroom rooms, with beautiful views of the garden from the windows of each room.
Goodwood Estate, Sussex
Goodwood House, Sussex
Already a popular day-trip destination for racing, vintage car shows and aviation shows, vintage carnivals and Britain's most beautiful racecourse, Goodwood Manor now has a hotel in the estate where visitors no longer have to worry about not having to spend the night.
The owner of the estate, Lord March, is a sociable person who can be seen appearing at various events and hotels from time to time; his goal is to make the hotel a place where guests feel at home.
Kennels is a less formal restaurant that tastes good, while Richmond Arms, despite its name sounding like a pub, is a more formal restaurant, with a british restaurant that has also won awards. There is also a golf course, a spa, a car track for mini-driving lessons for children under the age of 17, and a private airport where guests can take the Cessna 172 Aquila flight course.
Sion Palace, Middlesas County
Syon Park, Middlesex
When the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland were not staying at Alnwick Castle, they were often present at Sion Palace, a makeshift residence in London.
Adjacent to Kew Gardens, Sion Palace is a majestic building that has been the residence of the British Royal Family since the 15th century; the sumptuous halls, reception rooms and oak-studded corridors in the Palace have appeared in films and television works such as Gosford Manor, Winter in Love and Emma.
There is a modern Waldorf Astoria hotel in the manor. The exterior of the hotel is hardly reminiscent of Jane Austen's work, and some have even likened it to a hangar, but the interior rooms are comfortable and spacious, decorated in a beautifully modern style, with unobstructed views of the small bridge flowing outside the window.
The Palace and Gardens are open three days a week; the manor is rarely visited during the time it is closed to tourists. If you see someone, it's probably the Earl of Northumberland couple or their children walking.
Grove Manor, Hertfordshire
The Grove, Hertfordshire
The Regency-style, Baroque and French pastoral furniture of the Grove Estate is impressive, as if generations of Earl Clarendon had left their heirlooms in this luxurious 18th-century mansion.
Now it is a resort hotel. Despite the addition of a modern element, glass chandeliers and contemporary art continue the palatial grandeur and British alternatives.
The cuisine is a highlight here. Russell Bateman, who studied under Michelin-starred celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, now heads the back kitchen of fine dining colette's, and the buffet-style, pan-Asian Glasshouse, which serves ample home-cooked meals.
Bradley Cottage, Wiltshire
Bradley House, Wiltshire
Since Bradley Country House landed on Airbnb, you can experience what it's like to live next door to nobility. Descendants of Henry VIII's wife, Queen Jane Seymour, still lived in the lavish manor house, inviting paying guests to stay in one of its compartments. Obviously the hosts here especially like to show their guests around the estate.
Three en-suite double rooms can be rented together or separately, and camp beds are available for the children. A restaurant and lounge area are also available. Although the kitchen can be used to prepare "light meals", guests need to make a reservation in advance if they intend to cook, as the owner of the house is still using the kitchen.
In summer, guests can take a dip in the pool, play a game of croquet on the lawn or have a game of tennis, or take a stroll in the garden and nearby woods.
The shops in the village continue the illusion of traveling through time and space. There are no foreign goods for sale here, only local produce. The owner can arrange discount packages for staying guests at the local golf club.
They can even pick them up at the nearest Gillingham and Wesbury stations upon request – included in the £150 per night fee.
