"If you want to give rock 'n' roll another name, you can call it Chuckberry." ——John Lennon

Charles Edward Anderson" Charles Edward Anderson Chuck Berry (October 18, 1926 – March 18, 2017) was an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter who was one of the pioneers of the rock music genre.

While rock icon Elvis Presley recorded his first single, "That's All Right," 29-year-old Chuckberry also came to Chicago to start working with record labels. On May 21, 1955, Berry recorded Maybellene. After its release, it sold more than 1 million copies, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Rhythm Blues chart and No. 5 on the Billboard Bestsellers chart on September 10, 1955. At the end of June 1956, Berry's song "Roll Over Beethoven" reached number 29 on the Billboard Top 100, truly becoming a "top artist". In 1957, he participated in an American tour organized by Ellen Fred along with many big names, including Buddy Holly. Chuckberry at the end of 1950S released several hit records and participated in film recordings, and had his own club. Ranked among the top stars of the 50s, as a pioneer of rock music, he made a significant impact on the music of many later rock musicians.

In the 1960s, Chuckberg was charged with arrest. After an appeal at first instance and second instance, he was sentenced to one and a half years in prison in 1962. During his trials, he continued to record and tour his work. But his rate of output slowed with his popularity, and by the time he was released from prison in 1963, the United States was being swept away by the British Invasion. The Beatles and Rolling Stones covered many of Chuckberry's works during this period, and the American Band of Beach Boys also re-recorded a large number of Chuckbberry works, so that the market still maintained interest in him. By 1969, he had released studio productions including 8 singles and 5 albums. Although Chuckberg's market performance was not satisfactory during this period, he was still a top live rock singer and even completed a successful Tour of the United Kingdom in 1964. After returning to China in January 1965, his behavior became capricious. He performed with a local accompanist who did not rehearse and did not accept negotiations when signing contracts, giving him a reputation for being difficult to deal with and boring. For the next few decades, he maintained the habit of touring alone, looking for an accompaniment band in the local area. Kitasato finally ended his touring career after fainting at a New Year's concert in Chicago in 2011. On March 18, 2017, Chuck Berry, the father of the great rock pioneer rock and roll, died at his home in Missouri at the age of 90.

When we think of Chuckberg, we think of his duck step thinking that he was the father of rock 'n' roll. Berry developed from rhythm and blues music the main elements that made rock 'n' roll a unique genre, and his guitar solo and stage style were the main sources of influence for later rock 'n' roll. Compared to super rock icons like Elvis Presley, Chuckberg's impact on rock music is meaningless. And the band that was most influenced by him is called The Beatles!
