They live in groups, with a high degree of hierarchy and division of labor within the organization, with great efficiency and strategy in group hunting, and are at the very top of the food chain of the steppe ecosystem. In the long history, wolves have been both a terrible rival and a respectable adoration in the eyes of nomads.
And today I want to talk about the story of a female painter Li Weiyi and the wolf "Green" she raised.
<h1 class= "pgc-h-arrow-right" > trip to the prairie to rescue wolf cubs</h1>
In the early spring of 2010, Chengdu painter Li Weiyi drove to the Ruoerge Grassland on the northwest border of Sichuan to sketch. At the moment of stepping on the grassland, she suddenly felt ethereal inside, and her body and mind were suddenly immersed in the beautiful scenery of the grassland in early spring. Inspiration springs up like springs, and she waves the brush in her hand to depict the beauty of the prairie.
On the third day of her arrival in the steppe, she learned from the herders that a wild wolf had eaten the herders' bait and died on a hillside not far away. Driven by curiosity, she had the courage to follow several herders down the hillside.
In April, the grassland is not high enough, and the plateau is covered tenderly with the dotted wildflowers. They soon came to the hillside, and in the distance they saw a gray wolf lying in the grass. Approaching, I saw that the gray wolf was very thin and painful. At the herder's prompting, Li Weiyi noticed that it was a nursing she-wolf. The Tibetan herdsmen next to it speculated that the wolf was strictly monogamous, it must be the male wolf who died, and this nursing she-wolf came out to forage, and as a result, she accidentally ate the poisonous bait and died here, and the poor wolf cubs in the family will undoubtedly die, and everyone can't help but sigh.
When Li Weiyi, who was standing on the sidelines, heard this, a wave of pity surged from the bottom of his heart, and decided to go and find the few helpless wolf cubs. She asked the herders where they might find the orphaned wolf cubs. Herders told her that wolf dens were usually in trees or crevices in rocks. Li Weiyi immediately got into a jeep and searched for the wolf's den on the surrounding hillside.
She drove around the plateau for three days, searching almost all the surrounding hillsides and finding nothing. Yes, wolves are such alert animals, and it is easy to find a wolf's nest. Just as she was about to give up, the turning point came, and she faintly heard the cry. She followed the sound and found a gray "puppy" probing her brain in the crack of the stone. Li Weiyi held the electric baton of self-defense, walked up lightly, and looked around without a trace of a wolf. Only then did she step forward and pick up the wolf cub. She found two dead wolf cubs under a tree and in a crevice in a stone not far away. It seems that of this litter of wolf cubs, only this one survived.
Li Weiyi took the little wolf in his arms, and the little wolf arched in her arms, squeaking and whimpering, and the sound was nothing. She took the wolf back to the herdsman's house and borrowed a bottle to feed the wolf goat's milk.

Li Weiyi looked at the weak little wolf and named it "Green", hoping that it could grow up healthy and return to nature. Three days later, the little wolf's physical strength was completely restored, and he was inseparable from Li Weiyi. Green was so young, what to do with him. After much thought, Li Weiyi decided to take Green home. In this way, Li Weiyi only lived in the Ruoerge Grassland for seven days, and then drove back to Chengdu early.
At first, there was no problem, Green was still young, still so attached to Li Weiyi, perhaps in Green's eyes, he already regarded Li Weiyi as a wolf mother. As Li Weiyi painted, Green was rolling around her, tearing at her pant legs and shoes.
Li Weiyi also has a Pomeranian dog at home, although Pomeranian "Lele" is much older than Green, but does not bully Green, and even often takes the initiative to go to Green to play. But Green didn't buy it at all. Gritting his teeth at Lele, he learned to roar at Lele with a milky voice.
When Green was 7 months old, he was already very strong, his mouth was very long, his ears were pointed, and his voice became very high. He often bit Lele and hid under the bed and did not dare to come out. Once Li Weiyi took it to the downstairs community to play, and it disappeared in the blink of an eye. Li Weiyi was anxious to look around, must be Green is a wolf, something wild attack, bite people what to do! Just as Li Weiyi was anxiously calling out to Green, Green ran from a distance from the pond in the community, holding something in his mouth. When Green ran closer, Li Weiyi was about to have a seizure to teach it a lesson, and the next thing made Li Weiyi change in an instant.
It turned out that Green was holding the red koi caught from the pond in the community, ran to Li Weiyi and put it down. Li Weiyi understood that Green was going to give her the fish.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > Grimm's wildness revealed, racking his brains for his future</h1>
When Green was 9 months old, the wildness was even more prominent. It often drooled from its mouth, and with its pointed ears, long mouth, and slender body, it was exactly the shape of an adult wolf. Every time he went out, Li Weiyi tugged at it tightly. But now Green is not the earlier time, it is already very powerful, Li Weiyi feels that it is difficult to control it. A later incident made Li Weiyi firmly want to find a home for Green. Once again, Grimm howled wolf in the night. Scared the neighbor to call the police. After the police came to understand the situation, they suggested that Li Weiyi send Green to the zoo.
Li Weiyi came to the Chengdu Zoo and stood outside the protective net of the "Wolf Mountain" for a long time. She looked at the wolf in the protective net, and she noticed that there was green grass growing everywhere in the iron net, only in the edge area of the iron net, there was no grass. It is not difficult to imagine that the wolf kept running in front of the iron net, and trampled the place to the baldness. At this moment, Li Weiyi realized how helpless and painful the wolf was on the side of the iron net, and she did not want her Green to live a life without freedom like the wolf inside, it should belong to the grassland of freedom.

Back at home, Li Weiyi made a shocking decision. She resolutely sold her property in Chengdu and took Green back to the Ruoerge Grassland. Li Weiyi bought a small yard in a small town on the edge of the grassland and settled down with Green.
In the following days, Li Weiyi consciously stimulated Green's potential wildness while creating, looking forward to one day returning Green to nature. Li Weiyi fed Green with raw meat, and later changed to live chicken for Green to practice hunting.
Half a year had passed, and Green was much bigger, a completely adult wolf. There is a wild wolf in the family to take care of the home, but the safety is not worried at all, the people around them are far away from daring to approach, only a few curious people peek into the yard through the low wall to spy on Green.
When Green can put it back into the grassland, Li Weiyi does not have a score in his heart. It's just that now Green's food is too large, an adult male wolf, a chicken a day is not enough.
Once again, Li Weiyi took Green to the grassland. Hearing the cries of wild wolves on the hillside in the distance, Green looked up excitedly, looked into the distance, howled along, and then circled around. Li Weiyi looked at the feeling that the opportunity had come, and instigated Green to let him go to the wild wolf. Green looked back at the wolf mother, as if he had read something. Turned his head and ran towards the hillside.
Looking at Green's distant figure, Li Weiyi had mixed feelings and returned to his residence listlessly.
A few days later, Li Weiyi actually got a cold, had a high fever, and after taking the medicine, he lay on the bed. Just when she was confused, it was as if she heard what seemed to be Green's cry outside the window. She opened her eyes slightly, Oh my God, it's really Grimm. Li Weiyi felt dizzy and struggled to get up. Who knew that Green suddenly jumped in from the window, sneaked up to Li Weiyi, and arched his head over Li Weiyi. Surprised, she dragged Green over and touched his back and head. At this time, she found that Green's hind legs were actually injured and bloodstained. It is not difficult to guess that it was bitten by a wild wolf before it ran back.
Looking at Li Weiyi, who was lying listless, Green suddenly turned around and jumped out of the window again. Half a day later, it jumped in again, clutching a small piece of dirt-stained bread that it didn't know where it was. Looking at the cake Li Weiyi burst into tears. In the evening she felt more relaxed and got out of bed and walked around. Green continued to follow closely behind, not far away.

By the second year, in 2012, I don't know how many times I took Green to the depths of the prairie. In the distance I saw another wolf pack, probably four or five, on the far hillside. Li Weiyi decided to return Green to the wolves again. Green once again reluctantly looked back at Li Weiyi three times, and finally turned around and ran towards the wolves. This time Grimm succeeded, it stopped not far from the wolves, the wolves also looked at it, and after ten minutes, the wolves turned and left, and Grimm followed suit, slowly disappearing from sight.
Li Weiyi stood there for a long time, and it was half a month after returning to the residence, this time Green did not return, it seems that he was accepted by the wolves. She packed her bags and returned to Chengdu. Fortunately, at this time, the house was still hanging on the property and had not been sold, and she moved into the house again.
Back in Chengdu, Li Weiyi still thinks about Green all the time in his heart.

Finally, in 2018, she came to the Ruoerge steppe again, wanting to meet her wolf cub Green. But as soon as she arrived in town, some herders recognized her and told her that her Green had died not long ago. She was very anxious to hear this news. Every day she drove around the prairie, and finally this day she saw Green. But to her surprise, Green just looked at her from a distance and did not run over to spoil her like in other stories.
She was pretty sure it was Grimm, and she was sure that Grimm must have recognized him. A sad Li Weiyi returned to the town, and later learned from other herders that Green had become the wolf king of the nearby wolf pack and had a group of children. Over the years, people often spooled and killed wild wolves, and many of Green's children died under the crossbow arrows of humans, and even Green was injured. Hearing this, Li Weiyi slowly found the reason why Green was far away from her. It was a distrust of humans that made It impossible for Green to get close to Li Weiyi.
In order to call on people to protect wild animals, Li Weiyi wrote "Return to the Wolves", wanting people to tell her and Green's story and preach the need to protect animals in the local area.
In 2020, Li Weiyi came to the grassland to see Green, and this time Green saw the wolf mother from a distance, so he rushed over and pounced on Li Weiyi, one person and one wolf rolling together. Green also called his wolf cub to meet Li Weiyi. Looking at a few little wolf cubs not far away, curious and timid, as if seeing what Green looked like when he was a child, Li Weiyi couldn't help but burst into tears again.
