The first one can be seen that it took a lot of thought, but this is only reflected in the special effects. In terms of characters, the deletion is serious, and many of the people who are left behind are close to zero.
For example, Ryoichi Suzuki (Tomoro Taguchi). As a member of the team, the uncle has low combat strength and will only run away many times, but is this role really not important? In fact, it is not, otherwise the CG movie and live-action version would not have had to keep this role.
Many times, other people will be confused, but the uncle will not, he will always imagine for others, in his own way to inspire others. And in the movie (not to mention the second part), he is almost stunned! And in the second part, his character is even more unpleasant, because he actually pointed his X gun at Doe! No matter what he ended up with, he failed Ah Ji!
Another person who has no sense of existence is Hiroto Sakurai (Played by Hayabusa Shirai). In the comics, he is a man who has undergone an inner transformation, withstood quite a bit of blows, and even blackened at one point. Such a colorful person, but has been changed to such a pale, it feels like just a number of people. A lot of times I wonder if he went to the wrong set and would pull out a ring when he couldn't win (see Kamen Rider Wizard for details).

The plot of the second part is borrowed from part of the Shinjuku Massacre, plus the black star man (that is, the vampire in the manga, in addition to the ability to change the knife, the human setting has changed), and the plot of hunting down and killing Doe, there is a hodgepodge.

In addition to the CG movie and these two live-action versions, GANTZ has a 26-episode anime, and I've only watched one episode so far.
I don't know if it is the age or what the reason, the picture quality is quite poor, and the plot changes are also large, the psychological activities are everywhere, and I don't know why such an excellent work adaptation will become like.
