In 2015, the 2500th anniversary of the founding of Yangzhou is approaching, the original planning bureau opposite Yangzhou Middle School will be demolished by the wall, and the Yangzhou Middle School Academician Square will be built here to fully display the academician style, Yangzhou Middle School Academician Square is located at No. 33 Huaihai Road, and Yangzhou Middle School is across the road, the square covers an area of about 3200 square meters, it reproduces the moving style of 49 academicians in the form of group sculptures.
Among the alumni are Jiang Zemin, Hu Qiaomu, Zhu Ziqing, Huang Weilu, and so on, 49 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a large number of experts, scholars, cadres at all levels, and high-quality talents from all walks of life.
The core of the square layout highlights the word "academician". All the buildings are related to academicians, from south to north are relief walls, academician statues, and memorials. There are as many as three relief walls in the square, introducing 49 academicians who walked out of Yangzhou Middle School, and one of the relief walls is also engraved with "Academician Square Record" on the front. The four academician statues are represented by the theorist Wu Zhengyi, the botanist Wu Liangyong, the architect Wu Liangyong, and the founder of the "two bombs and one star" Huang Weilu, who are shaped according to the 1:1 live-action model, and are at the center of the square, they are the spirit of academicians
