I pushed hard: "Now that I am retired and my literary thoughts are exhausted, where can I still write inscriptions that have been famous for eons?" There are many young and promising literary and artistic talents in the city, so let them go on! ”
Director X has repeatedly stressed that this is what the municipal government asked you to write. Since the city government looks up to you, you will not resign, try to write, write badly, they will not blame you. I said, "In the evening, there is also the top ten match between China and the United Arab Emirates, I have to watch the ball, I don't have time or energy to write." ”
Director X said: "It's not tomorrow, it can be completed in a week." Unable to stop his repeated persuasion and his wife's help, I had to say: "Let me try it, but don't be my hope." ”

I set the tone of the note: solemn, elegant, simple, and condensed eight words. Solemn, the attitude should be solemn, not frivolous; elegant, because it is a park, the words and sentences should be elegant and not vulgar; simple, the emotions should be simple and honest; condensed, the sentences should be compact and concise, and the words should be concise and concise. It is impossible to write a text, which is incomprehensible, nor can it be written in the vernacular, because it is engraved on a stone stele and the number of words is limited.
I wrote this eight-character policy in my heart, repeatedly deliberated, and completed the first draft in one breath, wanting to show it to my wife, and she fell asleep. I said, "You come and get it at ten o'clock, I'll send it to the printing department first, type out the manuscript, and save it!" ”

Did it work? I waited and waited, and after waiting for more than two months and still didn't see any movement, I thought it hadn't been adopted. Who knows, on October 10, Director X called me and said that the Urban Construction Bureau would hold a symposium and lecture on my manuscript.
I went to the conference room of the Urban Construction Bureau, and the conference room was full of celebrities from the literary and art circles in Dangyang. Vice Mayor Zhou Qing presided over the symposium, he said: "We have conducted an extensive call for papers on "Linfeng Park", and we have selected four articles from them. ”
When I looked at it, the other three articles were not signed, except that I wrote my name on the manuscript, and at that time, I regretted it a little, knowing that it was a wide call for papers, I would never write it. But soon I swept through the other three articles in a glance and ten lines, and I had a bottom in my heart, thinking that those three pieces were inferior to those three pieces, both in structure and language, than I had written.
Before the review begins, the author introduces his own writing ideas. I was the second to be named to speak, I said: "I didn't know that there were so many drafts, It was Director X who came to my house to call for papers, on the night of the competition between China and the United Arab Emirates on August 5, I completed this "Record" overnight, and my idea was from the eight words of solemnity, elegance, simplicity, and condensation. Next, only these eight words have been added.
The four people all talked about their own creative ideas, and then they commented, first the celebrities in our city spoke, and the speakers all had a tone: the shortlisted works, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, means that they are all good. It may be that it is a face-saving, and I have not said why.
Finally, Vice Mayor Zhou Qing brought an expert who had never appeared in Dangyang to speak in standard Mandarin: "Now there is a Peking Opera ticket competition in Beijing, and some ticket holders sing Peking Opera with eyes and boards, and some are singing songs. I read the four shortlisted works, only the "Record" written by Mr. Chen in Dangyang Yizhong, and the taste of the inscription. He went on to dissect my work.
As soon as he spoke, he became one-sided, and his subsequent speeches were biased in favor of me, affirming my work. In this way, "Linfeng Park Chronicle" was fixed.
After eating a noon reception, when I was leaving, I said to the director of the Urban Construction Bureau: "Before carving the stone stele, do you want me to see it, and if there are any changes, I will consider it again." The director agreed.
Unexpectedly, after the "Record" was engraved on the large stone stele, I saw: My original text, there are several changes, some changes, really make people cry and laugh. Fortunately, the signature of the "Record" is: Dangyang Municipal People's Government, not my name, but it has been passed around, and many people know that I wrote it. Many people mentioned the failures in my "Record", and where did I go to explain that it was the writing team of the municipal government that made changes. In 2004, I wrote a letter to the Dangyang Municipal Archives Bureau and the Shizhi Office, which was copied as follows:

At your previous symposium on collecting the works of the Dangyang people, I mentioned the failure of the inscription "Records of Linfeng Park". What more than a few of the ones he listed? There are several paintings of snakes and snakes engraved on the stele, and only two small examples are given: First, the inscription on the stele reads, "The CPC Dangyang Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government are committed to the construction of landscape gardens for the people..." This is not mentioned in the original text. Since the following payment is "Dangyang Municipal People's Government", then the addition of this text, is not a compliment to yourself? Second, in the inscription, the original text of "playing in the middle" was changed to "wandering in the middle", as far as the word is concerned, the word "wandering in the middle" is inappropriate. "Wandering", wandering also, or leisurely, which greatly reduces the function of Linfeng Park, and the original text is "amusement", including "swimming" and "music" two aspects. The original manuscript is presented for easy reference. Please keep this letter on file with the original manuscript for future generations to consult.
