In 215, the twentieth year of Jian'an, Sun Quan decided to attack Hefei, and Pan Zhang's performance made Sun Quan very praised, and he was made a partial general. In 219, the twenty-fourth year of Jian'an, Sun Quan went out to Jingzhou and sent Pan Zhang and Zhu Ran to cut off Guan Yu's back road, and the success was successful, and Pan Zhang was therefore more appreciated by Sun Quan, who worshiped Pan Zhang as the Taishou and made liyang marquis. In 221 AD, the second year of the Huang Dynasty, Gan Ning died, and all his soldiers were led by Pan Zhang. In 223, the fourth year of the Huang Dynasty, Cao Pi discovered that Sun Quan did not really want to submit, so he attacked the state of Wu on a large scale, after which Pan Zhang and others broke the siege, but did not succeed. In this battle, encountering a pontoon bridge, Pan Zhang believed that at this time, the Wei army was strong and it was not suitable to meet the battle. Later, he led his army to the upper stream, built a water city, set fire to the water, and burned the pontoon bridge.
In 227 AD, Pan Zhang almost suffered an accident, but fortunately Zhu Ran rescued him. Two years later, in the first year of the Yellow Dragon in 229 AD, Sun Quan declared himself emperor and made Pan Zhang the Right General.
How Pan Zhang died

Although Pan Zhang was a rough man, he was very popular with Sun Quan, who not only let him recruit soldiers, but also ordered him to be a general and promoted Pan Zhang to be a sima of another department. Later, Pan Zhang had a good set of dealing with thieves and robbers, and even people in neighboring counties asked him to help fight thieves, which was called the nemesis of thieves and bandits, and Pan Zhang was also famous for this. In 219, the twenty-fourth year of Jian'an, Sun Quan was preparing to go out to jingzhou, and Guan Yu pretended to surrender and retreat to the city, but the plan was discovered by Wu Fan, so Sun Quan sent Pan Zhang and Zhu Ran to cut off Guan Yu's back road and successfully captured Guan Yu and others, so Pan Zhang was worshiped by Sun Quan as a Zhenwei general. In 222, the second year of the Huang Dynasty, Pan Zhang's men made a meritorious contribution to the slaughter of the Shu Han army and appointed Pan Zhang as the general of Pingbei. The following year, Cao Pi discovered that Sun Quan did not really want to submit, so he prepared to attack Wu in a big way, and Pan Zhang and others failed to break the siege. Although Pan Zhang was reckless and brave, he still had a bit of a brain, and he thought that at this moment, the Wei army was fierce, and it was not good to fight with them at this time. Lead the people upstream to build a water city, and then set fire to the water and burn the pontoon bridge. In 227 AD, Sun Quan personally led an army to meet the Wei army, and finally won the victory, but Pan Zhang, who was cut off, was almost unexpected, and fortunately Zhu Ran rescued him.
There are two theories about how Pan Zhang died, which is recorded in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms: in 234 AD, that is, in the third year of Jiahe, Pan Zhang died of illness; In the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, it is said that Pan Zhang was killed by Guan Xing, who avenged his father, but this is a fiction in the novel, which is not to be believed.
Guan Xing killed Pan Zhang
Guan Xing, the second son of Guan Yu, a famous general at the end of the Han Dynasty during the Three Kingdoms period, was very much valued by Zhuge Liang from an early age, and in the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", he killed his father's enemy Pan Zhang, and there was a later Guan Xing killing Pan Zhang, but this is a fiction, and everyone can talk about it as after dinner.
Guan Xing, who avenges his father
Although Guan Xing was Guan Yu's second son, it did not affect his image in front of others in the slightest. His brother Guan Ping was beheaded along with his father Guan Yu in Linfeng, so Guan Xing's hatred for Pan Zhang was unspeakable. After Guan Yu's death, Guan Xing participated with Liu Bei in the campaign against the State of Wu, and worshipped him as the general of Long Jun. In this battle, Guan Xing entered the enemy line and happened to meet Pan Zhang, the enemy who killed his father. Guan Xing's blood was boiling at this moment, and when he met the enemy, he was extremely red-eyed, and Guan Xing immediately chased after Pan Zhang, who was running away. It may be that Guan Xing's anger made him lose his mind and actually got lost at such a critical time. So Guan Xing found a homestay in the valley, and the old man in the house saw that he was the son of Wu Sheng and took Guan Xing to live. Things are always so coincidental, three days later, the escaped Pan Zhang also came to this private house accommodation, wanted to force into the accommodation for a night, but met Guan Xing who came out from inside. At this moment, Pan Zhang still thought that it was Guan Yu's apparition, but he was stunned by this scene, so Guan Xing effortlessly killed Pan Zhang, and took back his father Guan Yu's Green Dragon Crescent Sword. At this point, Guan Xing killed Pan Zhang to avenge his father and solved a major event in his heart.
After that, Guan Xing became one of the main generals of Zhuge Liang's Northern Expedition, and his performance in various battles was very prominent. A few years later, he died of illness before the Sixth Northern Expedition.
