More than 95% of students are able to complete most assignments independently

98.62% of the schools in the city ensure that students do not exceed the daily homework time, and more than 95% of students say that they can complete most of the homework independently. Yesterday, the first investigation report on the homework situation of primary and secondary schools in Beijing after the "double reduction" was released. Based on the survey results, the Basic Teaching and Research Center of the Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences put forward ten suggestions to optimize the homework support for teachers in the compulsory education stage.

More than 80,000 students participated in the survey

Recently, the Basic Teaching and Research Center of the Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences conducted a questionnaire survey on nearly 600 principals, more than 30,000 teachers and more than 80,000 students in the city's 16 districts, Yanshan District and Economic Development Zone. Jia Meihua, director of the center, said that the survey found that after the "double reduction", the construction of the operation management system of the city's primary and secondary schools tended to be perfected, and the requirements for formulating the operation management plan were better implemented.

Nearly 90% of students believe that the amount of homework is not much

According to the survey data, 96.04% of schools have formulated a school-wide homework management plan, and 92.77% of schools have established a publicity system for homework. At the same time, the school effectively reduces the burden on students by controlling the total amount of homework and written homework time. 89.06% of the students believe that the amount of homework assigned by the teacher is not much, and more than 95% of the students say that they can complete most of the homework independently.

The survey also reflects some problems, such as schools in the homework design teaching and research, hierarchical homework design and other aspects of the room for improvement, the proportion of students completing homework in school still needs to be improved, schools, teachers urgently need expert guidance and high-quality resources to lead. In this regard, the Basic Teaching and Research Center of the Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences put forward ten suggestions to primary and secondary school teachers in the city from the dimensions of "designing appropriate types of homework according to the characteristics of disciplines", "establishing a teacher trial homework system", and "focusing on layering and selecting homework".

For example, language disciplines should make long-term arrangements for homework such as memorization, silent writing, and composition; science subjects should change the difficulty and quantity of homework to avoid disconnection with teaching and serious test-taking tendencies; teachers of various disciplines should guide students to communities, museums, science and technology venues, etc. to complete interdisciplinary, thematic, and project-based assignments.
