It is reported that Chongqing coal mining has a history of hundreds of years, but for safety reasons, in January 2021, the Chongqing Municipal Government decided to close and withdraw from the city's state-owned coal mines as a whole. Chongqing, where the annual demand is 50 million tons, has become a net transfer of coal into the city, and at the moment when coal prices are soaring and there is a "coal shortage" all over the country, ensuring that coal enters Chongqing has become the key.

Guo Penggang, general manager of Chongqing Changzu Flyover Technology Co., Ltd., told reporters that the work of "Xinjiang coal" entering Chongqing was carried out in cooperation with Sichuan Guangyuan Port Group and China Hydropower Fifth Bureau Logistics Company, and the batch of high-quality coal was transported to Guangyuan by train from Turfan, Xinjiang, and then transported to Chongqing Songshui Wharf by Jialing River Waterway after land transit, and into chongqing Yuxi Coal Storage and Distribution Base, forming a new channel for multimodal transport of "Xinjiang coal" from Xinjiang, Guangyuan and Chongqing. The new channel has the characteristics of convenience, speed, economy, large volume and low carbon, and port-to-port transportation reduces the transit links of land transportation.

"After the opening of the whole river from the Jialing River, we have been connecting with Guangyuan Port, how to open up this coal transportation channel?" Today it finally worked out. Zhang Jijun, manager of the logistics company of the Fifth Bureau of Hydropower of China, told reporters that the company transferred nearly 500,000 tons of coal from the special line of the Fifth Bureau of Hydropower to Chongqing through Zhaohua Station every year, and in the past it could only be transited by railway or highway, and the coal was transported with a narrow surface. After the successful completion of the initial launch, it is expected that "Xinjiang Coal" will transport up to 100,000 tons per year through Guangyuan Port.

"Compared with public railway intermodal transport, public iron and water multimodal transport can reduce transportation costs by more than 30 yuan per ton of coal." Wei Lushan, director of the Port and Shipping Department of the Sichuan Guangyuan Port Group, said: The Jialing River has always been an important channel for the southern transportation of coal in northern Sichuan and southern Gansu and Shaanxi, and Guangyuan Port is the deepest dry port in China's inland area, radiating the vast northwest region in the economic hinterland, and is an important transportation hub connecting the northwest region and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The "Xinjiang Coal" transported through the Jialing River to Chongqing has greatly brought into play the role of Jialing River shipping in the economic construction of the western region and the construction of the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region, and opened up an important water transportation node for the southward transportation of bulk goods in the northwest region.

It is understood that in order to ensure the success of the first voyage, the Sichuan Provincial Transportation Department and the Chongqing Municipal Transportation Bureau have attached great importance to it, not only organizing relevant coordination discussions, but also taking the initiative to provide services for the first joint dispatch and navigation safety of the navigable buildings of the Jialing River in Sichuan and Chongqing.

The reporter learned in the interview that after the comprehensive withdrawal of the coal industry in Chongqing, the gap in coal demand in the city has increased sharply, and since the second half of last year, commodities such as coal have soared, and railway transportation capacity has been tight, bringing severe challenges to Dazu and surrounding coal-using enterprises. Chongqing Dazu International Trade logistics park relies on the good loading and unloading capacity and convenient transshipment conditions of Dazu Railway Station, as well as the current construction of the Yuxi Coal Storage and Blending Base and the vast coal demand market in eastern Yuxi chuandong, attracting high-quality coal trading enterprises to settle in, improving the cargo throughput of Dazu Railway Station, activating the trading activity of coal and other bulk goods, and ensuring the energy security of surrounding coal-using enterprises to the greatest extent.

It is understood that "Xinjiang Coal into Chongqing" is a coal trade project introduced by Chongqing Changzu Feiyue Technology Co., Ltd., which will combine the resource advantages of Shaanxi, Xinjiang and other coal-producing provinces with the logistics advantages of Chang'an People's Livelihood Logistics, and form an annual sales capacity of 800 million yuan and processing and sales of 1 million tons of thermal coal in the Shuangqiao Economic Development Zone.
