When J.R. Smith is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is the nerve knife, James' knife guard, and of course, the last confused rebound!!

In fact, J.R.'s NBA career started very high, entering the NBA as a high school student. In 2004, J.R. Smith competed in the McDonald's All-Star Game and won the MVP of the competition. After the game, Smith decided to give up his dream of going to college and look for the opportunity to go directly to the NBA to play. He entered the 2004 NBA Draft in the same year and was selected by the New Orleans Hornets with the 18th pick in the first round, where he began writing about his NBA career.

The Hornets' rookie season has not been smooth sailing, from starting to playing on the bench, it is difficult to accept the role of the team, and once, Scott still did not choose to arrange JR to play despite the Hornets' injury. This move stabbed JR's proud heart fiercely. He boldly pointed out in the post-game interview that his coach was too "arrogant", and complained that they lacked communication, and even hoped that the team would trade himself, and finally because of the conflict with the coaching staff, he parted ways with the Hornets in the 05-06 season, and once again came to the Nuggets in a three-way trade, and also opened his bohemian wandering life.

On December 6, 2006, J.R. Smith was embroiled in a court dispute between the Nuggets and Knicks, and was suspended for 10 games for fighting.

On October 13, 2007, the Nuggets imposed a ban for the first three games of the 2007–08 regular season for J.R. Smith's impolite behavior toward a woman at a Denver nightclub.

It seems that JR Smith didn't mature a bit during the 2-year NBA season, when he felt he couldn't fit in well with the NBA because the coach ignored his talent. In the early days of the Nuggets, he was never able to figure out his position. And his coach is also a legendary coach who has spent almost his entire life dealing with basketball, the 7th coach to win a thousand victories, George Carr. You can easily guess carl's boredom with this alternative.

JR and Carl have a bad relationship, and he even regards Carl as his biggest enemy who has not been glorified. So you can often see THAT JR will shoot three-pointers at the worst time in the game, constantly arguing with Karl about playing time, and even looking for opportunities to throw the ball as soon as he plays.

In the final period of the Nuggets, JR still could not fulfill his responsibilities well even if he found himself in the positioning, and his defense was sparse and his attitude was inferior. He attributed his peak to the enthusiasm of the fans, summed up the trough as a coach, and the disintegration with the Nuggets was expected.

In 2012 JR left the Knicks looking forward to starting a new career. But the drunken Knicks are not the home of the prodigal son at all. Although he had a past season in the Knicks, for a long time he would be defined as a "cancer" for the Knicks. With the passage of time, he also realized that he could not change the cruel reality, and he also repositioned himself step by step, accepted his role as the sixth person, and also played the best data in his career. Averaging 18.1 points per game, he was elected the sixth man of the 12-13 season, and because the New York Knicks at this time had Anthony in charge, his personality also retracted a lot, and he also received a lot of career honors, and helped the Knicks win the Atlantic Division for the first time since 1994, on July 5, 2013, J.R. Smith announced that he would stay with the Knicks. On July 11, the two sides officially signed a contract worth 17.94 million for a period of 3 years, of which the 2015 summer player option.

It seems that in the Knicks he found some of his former self, there were many highlight moments, the earth-shattering buckle of the free throw line, the one-second kill of the sun, the highest score in a single game without scoring in the first quarter, but it was not a sacred place to save him, he could not bring more to the Knicks, and he could only say that the Knicks were one of his passers-by!

Life is always full of variables and casualness, and finally there is a chance that JR has found his own place——— the Cleveland Cavaliers, and more importantly, he meets the little emperor who returned from the Heat - LeBron James.

On January 6, 2015, the Cleveland Cavaliers made a three-way deal with the Knicks and Thunder, and he and Iman Shumpert came to the Cavaliers as a trade addition!! It was this dramatic beginning that reshaped JR's career. Here he gained unprecedented respect, especially encouragement from team leader James, JR also began to change the no longer required starting positions, no longer count the playing time, no longer count to do some dirty work, so that he improved his defense, active running, flowing three-pointers. Five steals on the spot, ranking 98th in the historical steal list, the highest single game hit 8 three-pointers, breaking the Cavaliers' single-season three-point shooting record, the Cavaliers' history of 5th three-point shooting, NBA playoff history 8th in three-point shooting history. Because the Cavaliers injured many Irving injuries this year, retired to the Loafer season reimbursement, and finally fought six games with the Warriors Finals, JR also played with injuries, averaging more than 40 minutes per game, and finally lost to the Warriors, but played bloody, and was later called one of the "Seven Jedi Knights".

On June 9, 2016, the Cavaliers defeated the Warriors 120-90 at home in Game 3 of the Finals, J.R. Smith played 38 minutes and had 20 points and four rebounds, including 5 of 10 three-pointers, and hit 56 three-pointers in the 2015-16 playoff season, breaking the Record for the number of three-pointers in the History of the Cavaliers in the History of the Cavaliers himself. It was his excellent performance that allowed this year's Finals to retain a trace of suspense, staging the only time in NBA history that it achieved an earth-shattering reversal when it fell behind by a large score of 3:1. On June 20, 2016, J.R. Smith was crowned an NBA champion with the Cavaliers, helping Cleveland break the 50-year crown-free spell and become Cleveland's hero!

On July 2, 2020, the Los Angeles Lakers announced the official signing of J.R. Smith through official social media, once again following in James's footsteps, and on October 12, 2020, J.R. Smith won the 2019-20 NBA championship with the Lakers, and the second championship of his career.

This is JR Smith, a prodigal son and an iron-boned boy. In the long history of the NBA, he is not worth remembering, and perhaps one day, the fans who once thought about him will forget him, forget the numbers on his jersey, forget all his four-seat moments, just as people forget their youth. However, the throbbing and attachment that were once imprinted in the heart by JR's enthusiasm will never be extinguished.

The so-called small people, big legends!

Untamed nerve knives,

The stadium is frustrated and busy,

The prodigal son will turn back and never regret it,

The heroes of Kecheng are praised.
