"Red Balloon" is the highest masterpiece of anthropomorphic film

A lonely little boy picked up a red balloon floating in mid-air on the way to school, and he took it to school and after school, and the red balloon followed him and accompanied him step by step like a mischievous and sensible elf. The little boy took it under the umbrella of the adults to hide from the rain, the red balloon cleverly and cleverly evaded the pursuit of teachers and parents, waiting for the little boy to finish school, it would even happily grind with the blue balloon held by the little girl he met on the way, and the little boy had a happy playmate from then on...

Finally, at the door of a cake shop, the red balloon was caught by a group of naughty children who had been following them with jealousy, and although the little boy tried his best to save it, he could not escape the stones shot by the slingshots of the children, and it was discouraged and trampled by the children who had swarmed up. The little boy looked at it sheepishly, and suddenly all kinds of colorful balloons on the street broke free of the children's hands, flew out of the street and the window, and flew to the melancholy little boy together. The little boy looked up at them and smiled brightly again, and he happily grasped so many balloons, allowing them to take him into the air and soar freely...

It was a film without lines, but won the Best Short Film Award at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival for the director. Starring the director's son, it tells the story of a little boy who accidentally picked up a red balloon on the side of the road, he carried the balloon through the streets of Paris, and then the balloon wanted to "slip away", the boy hurried to catch up, and finally the balloon was thrown by a small stone; at this time all the balloons in Paris floated into the sky, and the little boy also surreally floated in the air with the balloons in the sky.

The film symbolizes the contest between innocence and evil, the cinematography is elegant and poetic, and the anthropomorphism of the red balloon is also full of vivid and cute interest, taking people through the whole of Paris, but lacking the passion of the director's contemporary film "White Mane".
