The plot is simple, a lonely, strange-tempered old man Ovie decides to commit suicide after his wife's death and finds the world uninteresting. Decent preparation, but because the rope is broken, afraid of scaring children, there are stray cats "touching porcelain" to be fed, the neighbor is too stupid to reverse the car, pregnant women have to go to the hospital and no one to send them, and many other factors have not died. On the contrary, there are many more constraints and troubles, and gradually learn to get along with the people around them, from a lonely old man to be remembered and loved by many people, and finally pass away in a snowy weather.

1, Ovi:
Ovi is a non-communicative and very persistent person, when he was young, he met his wife, who gave him love and became his bond with the world. Although they have some different opinions, they always get along very well. After the death of his wife, rather than saying that Ovie had no expectations for the world, it was better to say that because of loneliness and fear, he did not know how to get along with the people around him, so as to grow a thorn to protect himself.
But in fact, Ovie is very cute, he scolded and grinned to help the young man reverse the car, a face of refusal to accept the very thick-skinned cat, to the middle-aged friends who broke up because they were not loyal to the brand (or lifestyle), but now they are sick and want to be taken away by the nursing home, when they bought an iPad for the little girl, they had a big fight with the clerk, and they wanted to commit suicide on the track but saved another person who fell off the track... At the end of the story, Ovie learns to ask others for help, which is the best ending for him and those around him.
2, neighbor old man:
Forgive me for not remembering his name... There is a very interesting description in the book, when he was young, Ovie bought one brand of car, he bought another brand, and he bought it for many years. Later, he changed another brand, and Ovie angrily broke with him and did not compromise.
He and Ovie have been against each other for most of their lives, and one supports the other and the other is bound to oppose. But their wives are very good friends and try to get the two of them together... It's just fun.
3. Hug the hedgehog man
Ovie's wife, the little girl, the pregnant woman, the cat... They saw that Ovi was not good-tempered and full of dirty words, but they were still not afraid of him, and even dared to kick his nose excessively in the face, they were those who saw his soft heart through the disguise of Ovie's full of thorns.

There is nothing new under the sun, the characters in this book are well shaped, but there are many similar characters, such as the grandmother in "Grandma's Apology Letter". There are not many thought-provoking truths in the book, or that the author does not write big truths most of the time, but integrates into the story and character personality, little by little, until the emotions are sublimated.
So let's define the story: a person whose thorns gradually soften, who are embraced by the world and try to embrace the world again. His courage to live is actually connected to the world, assuming that a person is completely unrelated to everything around him, not needed, not perceived, not paid attention to, and his whole state is very dangerous.
