Tsuyoshi Ayano's "Only Shine There" represented Japan in the Oscar

According to Japanese media reports quoted by Japan Tong, the Japan Film Producers Alliance released news that the movie "Only Shines There" starring actor Tsuyoshi Ayano (32 years old) has been identified as the representative work of the Foreign Language Film Department of the 87th Oscars held next year.

Directed by Miho Go, the film is based on the short story of the same name by writer Taishi Sano, starring Tsuyoshi Ayano and Chizuru Ikewaki. Set in Hakodate, Hokkaido in the summer, the story tells the story of Tatsuo Sato (Tsuyoshi Ayano), the protagonist who quits his job and does nothing, and meets Takuo Ayoki (Shoko Sugata), a young "self-made" young man with a rough personality, in a game hall. Tatsufu follows Taku'er to the so-called "home", a simple temporary work shed where his sleeping father, enthusiastic mother, and sister Chisa (Chizuru Ikewaki) are housed, and in this place that is despised by the world, Dafu falls in love with Chisa who "shines" in his eyes...

"Only Shine There" just won the Best Director Award at the 38th Montreal Film Festival and is now competing for the Oscars. Director Wu Meibao said that the Oscars are a world-class stage, and his films can be on such a stage, hoping to evoke miracles again and finally win back the awards. Tsuyoshi Ayano, the lead actor, also said that it is a great honor to be able to give his work such a stage and let it represent the quality of Japanese films as a whole.

There are five nominations for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, which will be selected from representative works from each country in the future. The Japanese film "The Mortician" won the Best Foreign Language Film Award at the 81st Academy Awards. The nominations for the 87th Academy Awards will be announced on January 15 next year, US time, and the award ceremony will be held on February 22.
