According to legend, the Shunzhi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty (Ai Xin JueLuo. Fu Lin) was tired of the world and took refuge in Buddhism at Mount Wutai. After the Kangxi Emperor ascended the throne, he missed his father day and night and wanted to go to Mount Wutai to persuade his father to return to the palace. Kangxi knew that before his father left home, he loved to eat roast chicken. Therefore, the order was given to the imperial chef: whoever can make the most delicious roast chicken will have a rich reward. During this period, Kangxi worked hard to govern the country for nearly ten years, but no imperial chef ever made a roast chicken that he never forgot, and his heart was depressed.
The Kangxi Emperor
One day, Kangxi returned from hunting and prepared for dinner. Suddenly attracted by a strong aroma of roast chicken, the food, crispy skin and tender flesh, lips and teeth left fragrant, can't help it, so he asked the imperial dining room where it came from. It turned out to be made by a young chef in Shanxi who had just entered the palace, he used mountain and forest chicken, pickled with nearly 30 flavor spices and precious herbs, roasted after more than a dozen processes, the finished product was attractive in color, long after eating, and pleasant in body and mind.
Kangxi immediately took this imperial cook to Wutaishan Province, and after waiting for his father for many days, the Shunzhi Emperor Fulin finally agreed to see Kangxi, and Kangxi was moved by his feelings, and offered him a gourmet roast chicken, hoping that his father would return to the palace. In the end, although Kangxi did not invite back Shunzhi, this young imperial cook from Shanxi was in a stable position and followed Kangxi for many years.
At the 66th birthday banquet of the Kangxi Emperor, the imperial dining room offered the manchu Han feast to the Manchu Han Wenwu Hundred Officials. One of the most honorable "Thousand Sorrows Banquet" barbecue two products, "Imperial Roast Chicken", is the dish of the Kangxi Emperor's relatives in Wutaishan Province. Whenever the Kangxi Emperor missed his father, he asked the imperial dining room to make this "imperial roast chicken" to eat. After the death of Kangxi, the Shanxi imperial chef returned to his hometown and passed on the secret recipe for making roast chicken to future generations.
