However, Wang Jinshan's condition worsened and he was being rescued in the hospital, and Deng Xiaoping did not see Wang Jinshan, which was somewhat regrettable. It is even more regrettable that after that, for various reasons, Deng Xiaoping never saw Wang Jinshan again.
Before Deng Xiaoping left, he gave important instructions to the Nanjing Military Region: We must make every effort to rescue and treat Wang Jinshan and report on the progress of treatment in a timely manner; the medical strength is insufficient and can be drawn from all localities.

The Kuomintang made meticulous preparations, and not only brought in the elite troops to reorganize the Third Division, but also divided the troops from Xuzhou, Zhengzhou, and other places to attack us in two ways.
They also looked at the vast and narrow area north of the Longhai Line and close to the south of the Yellow River, where it was inconvenient for our army to carry out and it was difficult for troops to move on a large scale, and they wanted to eliminate our army.
The situation is critical. Liu Bocheng, Deng Xiaoping, Li Da, and other leaders of the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Field Army discussed battle plans day and night.
They know very well that this battle must be fought, and if it is not fought or won, the troops will only have to return to the Taihang Mountains to fight guerrillas, and more importantly, the entire Central Plains region will become Chiang Kai-shek's domain.
Therefore, this battle must be fought and won, and Chief Liu Deng has already strengthened his determination at this time.
The determination is set, and the key is to look at the action. The disparity between the enemy and our forces is too great, and the entire Jinji-Hebei Luyu Field Army, and then add up all the local troops in the districts and counties, but 50,000 people, 50,000: 360,000, this is only the difference in strength.
Many of these units of the Nationalist Army are Equipped with American equipment and are fully loaded, especially the reorganized Third Division, which is one of the six aces of the Kuomintang, formerly known as the Kuomintang 10th Army, also known as the Taishan Army, when Fang Xianjue held Hengyang City alone to resist the Japanese army for 47 days, and it was this unit that was brought with him.

He deeply felt that over the years, he had not looked at the wrong person and had not cultivated this beloved general in vain.
Wang Jinshan did not seem to have fully expressed his intentions, and then said to the crowd: "If we fight, if there is only 1 brigade left in the column, I will be the brigade commander and Lao Du will be the political commissar of the brigade; there will be only 1 regiment left, I will be the regiment commander, and Lao Du will be the political commissar of the regiment; if there is only 1 company left, I will become the company commander." On the night of September 5, 1946, the Battle of Dingtao was officially launched. In order to stabilize the morale of the army and boost morale, he placed the command post at the front of the operation, which was only 300 meters away from the enemy.
After the battle was launched, he threw out all 6 regiments of the 6 columns at once, intending to take the division headquarters of the enemy's reorganized 3rd Division at Dayang Lake and the 59th regimental headquarters of the reorganized 3rd Division.
After all, the enemy was the trump card of the Kuomintang, and after a period of panic, it immediately began to organize an effective counterattack, and the enemy and we launched a tug-of-war in the night.
Under the meticulous preparation of our army and the attack of superior troops, we have gradually gained the initiative on the battlefield.
