"April 12" counter-revolutionary coup
In 1927, the right wing of the Kuomintang led by Chiang Kai-shek launched the "April 12" counter-revolutionary coup, and less than a week after the coup, the Nationalist government was established in Nanjing on April 18. In order to maintain its dictatorship, the Nationalist government hunted down Communists and revolutionaries and imprisoned and killed them on charges of "counter-revolution." In the harsh white terror, Nanjing, as the capital of the Nationalist government, had a particularly dense military and police constitution and the most serious reactionary rule, but our Communists did not retreat from it and continued to choose to hold firm and struggle.
From 1927 to 1934, the Nanjing Party organization of the Communist Party of China suffered eight major damages, and a large number of Communist Party members and Members of the Communist Youth League were arrested and sacrificed, including 6 main responsible persons of the Party organization, who used their lives to relay the Nanjing Party organization to stand tall in the bloody rain and wind. The positions of the six heads of party organizations are: Nanjing Prefectural Committee, Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, Nanjing Action Committee, Nanjing Special Committee, these ever-changing names reflect the arduous process of continuous destruction and reconstruction of the Nanjing Party organization. Let's look at the time from their appointment to their arrest, Xie Wenjin 8 months, Sun Jinchuan 4 months, Huang Ruisheng 1 month, Li Jiping 14 days. Cao Ying
(1908–1990)
Yuhua heroic su Ding'e and her husband Cao Ying fought in Nanjing in 1930, when Cao Ying was the deputy secretary of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, and he was a survivor of the brutal revolutionary struggle, which is recorded in his memoirs in his later years:
In those days of white terror, it was common for underground workers' homes to move east and west. I have been in Nanjing for less than a year and have moved four times. When I first arrived in Nanjing, I stayed in a small hotel near Zhonghua Gate. Soon, he moved to the back house of a grocery store on Chengxian Street. Later, if it was found that there was a stalker, it was immediately transferred to a wooden shop in the North Gate Bridge of Zhujiang Road. Later, it was moved from a carpentry shop to a dilapidated small house near the three-step two-bridge.
Running east and west and hiding in Tibet is the daily routine of their work. At that time, the party's activities were very tightly funded, and even a set of clothes worn by Comrade Su Ding'e when she got married was finally sent to the pawnshop.
Hui Yuyu Deputy Secretary of the CPC Northern Jiangsu Special Committee
(1909–1989)
After the founding of New China, Hui Yuyu served as the secretary of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, the governor of Jiangsu Province, and the secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, and he was also a revolutionary survivor. He was arrested in April 1930 and imprisoned in Nanjing Prison for seven years, with unforgettable memories of his life in prison. In his memoirs, he narrates it with great delicacy:
Eat, a day on two foreign porcelain bowls of barnyard rice. Nominally called two bowls, the rice husks and stones are picked out, and at most there is a bowl of more than one bowl, and when there is less, there is not even a bowl. When I took a bath, I couldn't help but lick the soap head, and when I was in the bathroom, I couldn't help but pull a handful of grass into the waistband of my pants, and go back to the cell to chew and swallow slowly. At night, my stomach grumbled and pulled a little broken blanket to fill my mouth.
Sleep, more than ninety people share two toilets, pour once every two or three days, after the defecation comes out, it flows everywhere, the smell is smoked, maggots crawl all over the ground, comrades who sleep near the toilet, a careless sleep in the and urine. In the summer, the flies are layered, the mosquitoes are in a clump, and they are not allowed to fight, and if someone hits the flies and mosquitoes and nails them to the wall, they will be forced to lick them off with their tongues.
Gao Wenhua
(1904–1994)
Such an environment may not be tolerated by us today, but the Communists in prison are day after day, year after year. In addition, they endured severe torture. Gao Wenhua graduated from the third phase of the Whampoa Military Academy, and after the defeat of the Great Revolution, he did not follow Chiang Kai-shek to enjoy the glory and wealth, but chose to follow the Communist Party, and was arrested in 1928 when he was engaged in underground struggle and imprisoned in Nanjing Model Prison. In a long poem from prison, he wrote: "Although we are suffering, our consciences are not guilty. Although we are bitter, we still have the pleasure of our supreme spirit. In short, we are the seekers of truth, we are the most just and selfless people, we are the happiest people! What kind of truth they seek will keep them from wavering in the lowest tide of the revolution, in the most dangerous places, in the face of unprecedented cruelty.
