He didn't know who these hematopoietic stem cells would be donated to, but he knew that someone must have a chance to be reborn because of these hematopoietic stem cells.

On the morning of May 18, after 4 hours of collection, Li Song, a staff member of the Venous Drug Dispensing Center of the Department of Pharmacy of the First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University (Qianfoshan Hospital of Shandong Province), successfully completed the donation of hematopoietic stem cells, becoming the 11315th case in China and the 989th hematopoietic stem cell donor in Shandong Province.

"There's a little bit of backache, but it's all tolerable." On the morning of the 18th, the reporter met Li Song in the hematopoietic stem cell collection room of the First Affiliated Hospital of The First Affiliated Hospital of The University of Shandong. From the afternoon of March, when he received a call from a Red Cross worker, he was preparing and waiting for the day.

Born in 1988, Li Song is a pharmacist at the Venous Drug Dispensing Center of the Department of Pharmacy of the First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University (Qianfoshan Hospital in Shandong Province), and has been actively participating in unpaid blood donation for many years. In a blood donation activity in September 2020, I happened to encounter the staff of the hospital's Department of Hematology who were promoting the storage of hematopoietic stem cells in the Chinese Bone Marrow Bank. Because he also saw blood disease patients in his daily work and saw their pain with his own eyes, he signed up without hesitation.

The success rate of non-related matching is only one in 100,000 at the lowest, and as a result, the real matching is successful.

"When I first received the call, I was still wondering if it would be a scam call, whether it would be my information leak, and my colleagues told me to ask me clearly, until later the staff of the District Red Cross Society took me to successfully collect high-resolution blood samples and take me to do a comprehensive physical examination, and I understood that this luck had come to me." Li Song said that this is a matter of saving a person's life, and he must be duty-bound.

I want to be a role model for my children

The time to wait for the high score result is so long, during this period, Li Song does not dare to miss any phone call, always feels that this is a race with life.

"At the beginning, the staff of the District Red Cross told me that if there is no accident, it is scheduled to be donated on April 26, and the days have passed day by day, without any news, I think that my matching has not been successful, people may not need me, and they comfort themselves in disappointment." Li Song said that until the beginning of May, he was told on the phone that his matching and physical examination had all passed, but the patient's body infection some time ago was not suitable for transplantation.

He found some information for his parents, dispelling the small concerns of the two party members behind the support. The donation of hematopoietic stem cells is scheduled for May 18.

"In fact, I have not been a good child in the eyes of the teacher since I was a child, and I have never let my family worry about learning, and the three good students and the student union are even more unrelated to me, as I grow older, the child grows up day by day, I feel that I should set an example for my child." The 6-year-old boy did not yet know the specific meaning of hematopoietic stem cells, but when he heard that his father was going to save people, the little boy proudly said that he wanted to tell his teachers and classmates about this matter.

The wife took samples in the library on the same day

At the donation site on the 18th, Li Song's wife Zhao Huimin also stretched out her arm, sampled into the library, and became a hematopoietic stem cell donation volunteer.

Zhao Huimin told reporters that in fact, as early as when Li Song entered the library, she thought of donating hematopoietic stem cells, but at that time, she did not donate blood together, but also had to go to the sample first, and it was delayed when she came and went. She heard that Li Song and a patient were successfully matched, and she was also happy. During this time, Li Song prepared a lot of information and wanted to call on more people to join the donation team of hematopoietic stem cells.

"I'm going to answer his call, I'm going to join in and fight alongside him." Zhao Huimin said.

"Someone told me that it may hurt to play mobilizers, but compared to life, what is this pain?" As long as I need my blood, I will continue to give it. Li Song said.

It is understood that Li Song is the 11315th case of hematopoietic stem cell donor in China, the 989th case of hematopoietic stem cell donor in Shandong Province, and the first hematopoietic stem cell donor in the First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University (Qianfoshan Hospital in Shandong Province).
