Beijing, 29 Nov (Xinhua) -- Comrade Cui Yi, former deputy political commissar of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, died in Beijing on November 21, 2019 at the age of 90 due to ineffective medical treatment.

Cui Yi, whose original name was Zhao Rihui, was a native of Penglai, Shandong, who joined the Communist Party of China in 1945 and joined the army in 1946. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he successively served as the head of the children's regiment and the director of the student federation. During the Liberation War, he successively served as the deputy district youth rescue president, officer, probationary deputy political instructor, company deputy political instructor, deputy political instructor of the battalion headquarters, political instructor, etc., and participated in the battles of Guanzhuang, Jia Fengshan, and Wutai. After the founding of New China, he successively served as a company political instructor, officer, assistant, deputy section chief, section chief, deputy director, director of the division's political department, deputy division chief, and division chief, deputy director and director of the Organization Department of the General Political Department, and director and deputy political commissar of the Political Department of the Commission of Science, Technology, and Industry for National Defense, making contributions to the revolutionization, modernization, and regularization of the armed forces.

Cui Yi is a deputy to the 13th and 14th National Congresses of the Communist Party of China, a member of the 14th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, a deputy to the Ninth National People's Congress, and a member of the Overseas Chinese Committee.
