Talking about ancient and modern times, digging deep into the history of Hebei that you don't know, hello everyone, I am "Qing Shi Jun", welcome to pay attention to the "Qing Shi Guan", every day to bring you fresh, interesting, dry goods full of historical stories.
Today, we are talking for you about the story of Shandong Enxian County.

Portrait of Song Renzong
In ancient times, there was an Enzhou at the junction of Hebei and Shandong, which included the three counties of Qinghe, Liting and Wucheng at that time. Enzhou was called Bei Prefecture in ancient times, but was renamed due to a rebellion in 1047 AD. In 1047, the reigning emperor was Zhao Zhen of Song Renzong, which was the seventh year of the Qing calendar.
In the winter of that year, Wang Ze (Zhuozhou), a low-level officer stationed in Bei Prefecture, used maitreya to agitate for rebellion among the soldiers, and his intention was to contact the local soldiers, along with the soldiers of Texas, Qizhou, Shenzhou, and Baozhou, to start a rebellion at the beginning of the first month of 1048. But there is no impermeable wall in the world, because of the leak, the king had to act in advance, he arrested the assassin and encouraged the soldiers to take control of the city of Beizhou.
The soldiers opened the armory and released the prisoners privately, and for a time the city of Bay State was in chaos.
Wang declared the state name Anyang, appointed himself king of Dongping Commandery and appointed his own officials. The imperial court sent Wen Yanbo to suppress it, and two months later, the rebellion ended in Wang Ze's defeat. The imperial court arrested and killed Wang Ze and others, while most of the other soldiers involved were pardoned.
In order to show the "great power of the emperor", the imperial court renamed Bei Prefecture to Enzhou, still leading the three counties. The Ming Dynasty writer Luo Guanzhong specially created the book "The Biography of the Three Sui Ping Demons" on this matter, and he was extremely slanderous about this uprising.
This uprising is indeed frightening, Beizhou is very close to the border, if Wang Ze's uprising is carried out as originally planned, then the uprising will affect Shenzhou, Baozhou and other border towns, when the Khitan in the north will take advantage of the chaos to go south and launch another military attack on the Northern Song Dynasty. It was an uprising that threatened the foundations of state rule. Fortunately, the rebellion of wang Ze was leaked in advance, so as not to cause more serious consequences.
During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, the imperial court demoted Enzhou to Enxian County. However, the local people were very dissatisfied with the name of the county.
In the early years of the Republic of China, Xiong Xiling and Zhu Qizhao advocated a major readjustment of the names of various counties, specifically by abolishing the renamed counties and changing the original county names. In this context, the gentry of Ng County proposed to change the name.

At that time, a retired official named Sun Yubing, who had served as a county magistrate in Dacheng and other places in Hebei, proposed to change his name. Sun Yubing meant that Wang Ze's rebellion was his own sin, and it was up to the people of Enzhou to bear the shame. In his view, this so-called imperial grace is vast, and changing The State of Bei to Enzhou is a kind of foolishness and humiliation, and it is unfair to let the people of this county carry it. His original words were "Every time citizens think of this, saltiness is shameful", and he also checked the archaeological records and suggested that En County be changed to the old county name Zhangnan County, which means north of the Zhanghe River.
Sun Yubing reported it step by step, and this document was sent to the National Government in Nanjing, but it was like a stone sinking into the sea, and no one paid attention to his stubble. The matter of changing the name of the county is not over. Sun Yubing is still a man who speaks softly, after all, there is no one in the DPRK.
In modern times, the ownership of En County has also been adjusted.
The junction of Hebei and Shandong was once the lower reaches of the Yellow River, and there were the old channels of the Zhanghe and Weihe rivers nearby, because of the river changes and the flood disasters in history, which caused the people of the two places to suffer deeply, and because the floods came and went, they also caused some economic disputes. On the eve of the founding of New China in 1949, Enxian was assigned to the Hengshui Special District of Hebei Province.
In 1951, the jurisdiction of Hengshui Prefecture included the three counties of Wucheng, Enxian and Xiajin, whose geographical scope is all located in Shandong today. In 1952, in the context of the adjustment of the boundary between Hebei and Shandong Provinces, the jurisdiction of Hengshui Prefecture was adjusted, and Enxian County, which belonged to Hebei, was assigned to the Dezhou Prefecture of Shandong Province.
On February 24, 1956, with the approval of the State Council, Enxian County was abolished. The history of this ancient county that has existed for thousands of years has come to an end. Chengguan, which originally belonged to the county seat of Enxian County, and 26 townships in the three districts of Sinu temple and Lüzhuang were assigned to Pingyuan County in Shandong Province. The two districts in the southwest, 14 townships, belong to Xiajin County in Shandong Province. Originally, the two districts of Jiucheng and Tengzhuang in the western part of EnXian belonged to Wucheng County, Shandong Province.

In this way, En County was divided into three.
At the beginning of 1965, under the call of Chairman Mao Zedong's slogan "We must eradicate the Haihe River", Hebei and Shandong provinces carried out large-scale water conservancy construction in the lower reaches of the Haihe River, and the harmful river finally became tamed, and the frequency of drought and flood disasters that plagued the people of Hebei and Shandong for hundreds of years gradually decreased.
In order to unify the government decrees to facilitate construction, the State Council approved the adjustment of the zoning of Hebei and Shandong. The five communes that originally belonged to Pingyuan County in Shandong Province were assigned to Wucheng County.
