Jinan, October 28 (Zhao Xiao) The list of "Shandong's 100 Important Archaeological Discoveries in a Hundred Years" was officially released on the 28th, systematically combing through Shandong's major archaeological achievements in the past 100 years and displaying Shandong's archaeological achievements. 100 projects, such as the Zhangqiu Chengziya Ruins and the Tai'an Dawenkou Ruins, were selected.

The event was hosted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shandong Province (Shandong Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics) and hosted by the Shandong Archaeological Society. Through the recommendation of archaeological professional institutions, the voting of the directors of the Archaeological Society, expert review, social publicity and other procedures, adhering to the selection principle of "fairness, justice, openness and professionalism", 100 important archaeological discovery projects were selected.

Zheng Tongxiu, director of the Shandong Museum, said that the hundred archaeological discoveries selected this time cover the entire era, from Paleolithic, Neolithic, Xia Shang, Two Zhou, Qin and Han, Wei and Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynasties, to the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties; the distribution area is wide, almost all over the province's cities; there are many types of archaeological remains, such as settlements, city sites, tombs, Buddhist cellars and so on. At the same time, there are many Neolithic sites, such as The Houli Culture, the Beixin Culture, the Dawenkou Culture, the Longshan Culture, the Yueshi Culture, etc., which constitute a systematic and obvious regional cultural genealogy of the Haidai region.

Sun Bo, president of the Shandong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, said in a briefing on the Zhangqiu Chengziya site project that the site is the place where the Longshan culture was discovered and named. With a total area of 200,000 square meters, the site is the first prehistoric site independently discovered and excavated by Chinese national academic institutions and archaeologists. The excavation of the Chengziya site has overthrown the Chinese culture in the West, paved an important cornerstone for the development of Prehistoric Archaeology in China, and the Longshan culture discovered from it has played a huge role in promoting the understanding and study of China's Neolithic culture, and the Chengziya site is also known as the "Sacred Site of Chinese Archaeology".

"The hundred archaeological discoveries truly reflect shandong's century-old archaeological achievements, witnessing and recording Shandong's century-old archaeological process, but over the years, these archaeological achievements have been 'raised in the deep and unknown'." Wang Tingqi, deputy director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shandong Province and deputy director of the Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, said at the meeting that the centralized release of "Shandong's 100 Important Archaeological Discoveries in the Past 100 Years" is to establish its status, publicize its significance, show its value, and highlight its role. In the next step, Shandong archaeologists will strengthen the collation and research of archaeological achievements, interpretation and dissemination, increase research efforts, and strive to break through a number of topics, launch a number of achievements, and cultivate a group of talents, further highlighting the academic value of "one hundred items in a hundred years" and expanding its social impact.
