This is an excerpt from The Story of a Cow and a Cow. During the Daoguang years of the Qing Dynasty. There was a butcher named Zhang Liuzi in Lieshanji, who killed countless cattle in his lifetime.
At the age of 46, Zhang Liuzi bought a cow and a calf cheaply from a neighboring village, and when he was about to kill the cow that day, he couldn't find the sharpened butcher knife, so he had to sit down in a daze, and inadvertently he saw the cow's eyes flowing with tears like people's eyes, looking at the calf sitting opposite with trepidation, the neck was extremely uncomfortable, Zhang Liuzi felt strange and a little moved.
He looked back at the calf, which was sitting motionless in the far corner of the wall, like a child, tearful, looking at the cow! Zhang Liuzi was moved, thinking that he had killed a cow himself, this scene that he had not seen for decades, what was wrong with him today?
He went to herd the calves, and the calves could not be lifted, and he beat the calves with a stick and did not move. Zhang Liuzi grabbed the calf's front leg, lifted the calf and threw it to the side, at this moment, he suddenly saw that the butcher knife that could not be found was under the calf's ass.
Zhang Liuzi realized that the calf saw him sharpening his knife to kill the cow, and took advantage of his inattention to bring the butcher knife and hide it under his ass! He was touched by the scene of the calf saving the mother, and he untied the rope for the cow with his trembling hand, and the calf that was tied to the side got up from the ground, walked to the cow, and rubbed the cow with its neck. The cow licked the calf with her tongue and barked in a low voice.
As if the calf had heard something, the calf knelt down on its front legs towards Zhang Liuzi next to the cow. Zhang Liuzi shook violently, and for the first time in his life, he felt a silent loud sound roaring in his body, and the man who killed the cow without blinking began to cry.
Since then, Zhang Liuzi has not killed cattle, and believed in Buddhism, and has been chanting Amitabha Buddha all his life, he has been raising the cow and the cow, after the death of the cow, the cow did not eat or drink until Zhang Liuzi died at the age of 86, and he lived 7 more days than the benefactor and died.
This story tells us that animals also know how to honor their parents, know how to be grateful, and know how to repay the favor, not to mention that we humans should go up and down filial piety, pursue filial piety, filial piety to parents, and repay the fountain of grace!
