Wang Yi said that China attaches great importance to Italy's status and role as a major EU country and regards Italy as a priority partner. China supports italy as the presidency in hosting the G20 Rome Summit, and President Xi Jinping will attend the meeting by video and deliver an important speech. China is willing to agree to jointly promote the G20 to advocate multilateralism, resist unilateralism and protectionism, hold high the banner of unity, and promote strong global economic recovery and growth.
Wang Yi said: China and Italy are comprehensive strategic partners. In the face of the current complex and changeable international situation, the two sides should adhere to mutual respect, mutual understanding and mutual trust on issues involving each other's core interests. It is necessary to maintain the long-term and stable development of bilateral relations from a long-term strategic perspective. Italy is the first Western country to carry out belt and road cooperation with China, and China is willing to agree to the preparation of a list of priority cooperation, continue to promote trilateral cooperation, and enable China and Italy to continue to walk in the forefront of high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road".
Wang Yi said that China is willing to continue to expand pragmatic cooperation between the two sides and promote mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of energy, aerospace, communications, green, digital and agriculture. It is hoped that the Italian side will provide an open, fair and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese-funded enterprises.
Di Maio expressed his gratitude to President Xi Jinping for attending the summit by video and sent State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi as special representative to attend the meeting. This reflects China's support for the Italian side to run the meeting. The Italian side is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China, practice multilateralism and jointly address global challenges.
Di Maio said that Italy firmly pursues the one-China policy. At present, Italy-China economic and trade cooperation is full of vitality, bilateral trade has grown significantly, and China has become Italy's largest export destination in Asia. The Italian side is full of confidence in the prospects of cooperation between the two sides and is willing to take the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" as a new starting point to promote all-round cooperation between the two sides.
The two sides agreed to take the Opportunity of the China-Italy Year of Culture and Tourism to promote people-to-people exchanges to achieve greater results. Support each other in hosting the Beijing Winter Olympics and the Milan Winter Olympics, and expand new areas of cooperation in the ice and snow industries of the two countries. Wang Yi hoped that the Italian side would work with China to carry forward the Olympic spirit and oppose the politicization of sports.
The two sides exchanged views on addressing climate change. Wang Yi said that China will unswervingly follow the path of green, low-carbon and sustainable development. China's carbon peaking and carbon neutrality targets, which will achieve the world's most difficult and intense emission reductions to date, have yet to be completed. This fully demonstrates China's firm commitment to addressing climate change. China will make strenuous efforts to this end, and we will do what we say and fulfill our commitments to the letter. Di Majo said that the Italian side highly appreciates China's great efforts in environmental protection and emission reduction and the positive progress made in green transformation and development, and is willing to continue to strengthen cooperation with China in coping with gas change.
