"At present, Chengdu is the third largest medical aesthetic market in China, second only to Beijing and Shanghai. Despite the impact of the epidemic in 2020, the Medical Aesthetic Market in Chengdu still achieved good growth. Qin Yong, member of the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and general manager of the Eight Major Medical Beauty Hospitals in Chengdu, told the "Daily Economic News" reporter that the current Chengdu economy is still in a rapid growth stage, and Chengdu has great potential to build a "medical beauty capital".

On February 3, the two sessions of Chengdu City kicked off. During the meeting, Qin Yong was interviewed by reporters. This time, in view of Chengdu's construction of a "medical beauty capital", Qin Yong brought his proposal. Qin Yong said that the development environment of Chengdu's medical aesthetic industry is very good, but there are still some problems. He suggested strengthening the normative guidance for the development of Chengdu's medical aesthetic industry; focusing on improving the quality of medical aesthetic institutions; and increasing the brand building of Chengdu's "Medical Beauty Capital".

<h2>It is optimistic that Chengdu will build a "capital of medical beauty"</h2>

In 2020, the new crown epidemic swept the world, and many domestic industries suffered an impact. Among them, medical aesthetic institutions that focus on offline services have also been greatly affected. "In 2020, more than 10 small medical aesthetic institutions in Chengdu were eliminated by the market. But from the overall point of view, the market of Chengdu Medical Aesthetics still achieved good growth last year. Qin Yong said.

According to Qin Yong, in recent years, Chengdu's medical beauty market has developed rapidly, and the current market size has surpassed Shenzhen, second only to Beijing and Shanghai, ranking third in China. Behind the rapid development of the medical beauty market, Chengdu has also proposed to build a "medical beauty capital", and has attracted a number of leading institutions such as Chengdu's eight major medical beauty hospitals and Allergan.

For the development of the medical aesthetic industry, Chengdu is obviously ambitious. In the opinions on the development of related industries, it is proposed that by 2025, the operating income of Chengdu's medical beauty industry will reach 100 billion yuan, and in 2030, it will reach 200 billion yuan.

Qin Yong is quite optimistic about Chengdu's construction of a "capital of medical beauty". "Chengdu is a 'beauty-loving' city with a large market space." Qin Yong said that the medical aesthetic industry is also closely related to the development level of the local economy. Last year, Chengdu's GDP reached 1.77 trillion yuan, and the per capita GDP exceeded 100,000 yuan, which belongs to the explosive growth period of the medical aesthetic industry.

In fact, the development of the medical aesthetic industry has entered the "golden" era and has been more and more recognized. In the past two years, companies in the medical aesthetic industry such as Haohai Biotech (688366, SH), Bloomage Bio (688363, SH), and Aimec (300896, SZ) have successively landed in A shares. Since the listing, Bloomage Bio and Aimike have risen by more than 1.1 times and 1.7 times respectively.

In addition, including Suning Global (000718, SZ), Langzi Co., Ltd. (002612, SZ), Aoyuan Meigu (000615, SZ) are also involved in the medical aesthetic business. "The company is firmly optimistic about the development prospects of the medical aesthetic industry, whether from the perspective of consumption upgrading, market scale, or industry concentration, the domestic medical aesthetic market will enter a period of rapid development." In January this year, Aoyuan Meigu (000615, SZ) said to the outside world.

<h2>Suggestions for industrial development: increase policy guidance, improve quality and build brands</h2>

In recent years, the domestic medical aesthetic industry has developed rapidly as a whole, but there have also been some problems. "The management of large medical aesthetic institutions is relatively standardized; mainly some small medical aesthetic institutions may have problems such as excessive medical treatment and over-scope operation." Qin Yong revealed that these problems have hindered the healthy development of the medical aesthetic industry.

Qin Yong believes that to build a "capital of medical beauty" in Chengdu, it is necessary to strengthen the guidance of the standardized operation of medical beauty institutions. "In essence, aesthetic services still fall under the category of medical treatment. Therefore, in terms of management, we must standardize and return to medical attributes. Qin Yong believes that at present, some medical and aesthetic institutions that lack medical services must be strictly controlled. Those who are unqualified should be resolutely banned, and those that are not compliant should be resolutely rectified.

In Qin Yong's view, when Chengdu builds a "capital of medical beauty", it cannot only look at the number of medical beauty institutions, industrial scale and other indicators, but also look at the health of the industry. "It is necessary to strictly manage medical aesthetic institutions, including strict review of the qualifications of medical aesthetic institutions and doctors." Qin Yong believes that in terms of policy guidance and governance, Chengdu has done a lot of work in recent years, but more can be done.

In addition to guiding medical and aesthetic institutions to standardize their operations, Qin Yong also believes that it is necessary to crack down on organized professional medical disturbances. "There are sometimes disputes in medical aesthetic institutions, but they should be resolved through normal channels. For example, appraisal institutions conduct appraisals, rather than through 'trouble', or even organized professional medical troubles to solve. Otherwise, it is difficult for businesses to operate normally. Qin Yong said.

"Only strict governance can create a good industrial development ecology and further improve the quality and level of medical aesthetic institutions." Qin Yong believes that only when the level and quality of medical aesthetic institutions are improved, the development of Chengdu's medical aesthetic industry can go further and form a word of mouth and brand effect.
