Beijing, May 2, 2017 The 2017 Snooker World Championships ended this morning at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England, Beijing time. Before the final stage of the showdown between Selby and Higgins, the World Billiards Federation presented the Outstanding Contribution Award to the Chinese billiards enterprise Xingpai Group, and Gan Lianfang, chairman of the Xingpai Group, received the award on the spot.

Speaking at the award ceremony, WTC President Barry Hearn said: "The snooker movement has developed tremendously around the world over the past few years, which is inseparable from the contributions of Star and Mr. Gan Lianfang. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the World Championships at the Crucible Theatre and the 30th anniversary of the creation of Star, and we have specially organized this ceremony to recognize star and Mr. Gan's contribution to the sport of snooker. ”

In today's World Championship final, last champion Mark Selby successfully defended his title with a 18:15 victory over John Higgins. Selby became the fourth player to win the World Championship after Hendry, Davidson and O'Sullivan, and the third player to win five titles in a single season after Hendry and Ding Junhui. Gan Lianfang presented Selby with the award and congratulated him on his achievements.

Ding Junhui, a player of the Star Brand Group, performed well at this World Championships, reaching the final four for the second consecutive year, losing 15:17 to his final opponent Selby last year in the semi-finals. (End)
