Recently, more than 10 global critically endangered species of blue-headed diving ducks appeared in Bai bird lake in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang. For the first time, the world's critically endangered bird, the Blue-headed Diving Duck, has appeared in this water area in large groups.
It is reported that the blue-headed diving duck is a national first-class protected animal and is a bird of the genus Diving Duck in the family Phyllonaceae. The body is round, the head is large, and the male has a black head and neck, and has a green luster and white eyes. In the past, due to habitat loss, overhunting, human disturbance and other factors, the population of blue-headed diving ducks declined sharply, and only 500 to 1000 remained in the world. It is listed as a "critically endangered" species on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
The blue-headed diving duck mainly inhabits some lakes, ponds and swamps where the water flow is moderate and aquatic plants are more abundant, and usually likes to mix with the crested diving duck or other wild ducks, and can dive into the water to eat the roots, leaves, stems and seeds of various aquatic plants. Today, the global critically endangered species of blue-headed diving duck appears in the 800-hectare water area of Bai bird lake in Qiqihar City, which is the best basis for reflecting the ecological environment and marks the continuous optimization of the ecological environment.
In the past, it was an oxidation pond for the treatment of urban sewage in Qiqiha City. In recent years, Qiqihar City has increased sewage treatment and ecological environment improvement, effectively ensuring that the waters and water quality here are clear and pollution-free, making the past oxidation pond into today's Bird Garden.
