Hans Joachim Vátsk revealed United had offered Erlin Haaland a "better offer" than Borussia Dortmund, but Mino Leola refused to travel to England to improve Norwegian development.
Haaland moved from Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund in 2020, although United did their best to persuade him to move to Old Trafford. Harlan has scored 70 goals and 19 assists in 69 games so far since joining, a rather ridiculous return, and he is considered one of the best strikers in the world at the age of 21.
Solskjaer struggled to persuade Haaland to opt for Manchester, but Borussia Dortmund chief executive Wattsk said the promise of developing at a club known in recent years for pushing players to the top was more attractive than Manchester United's greater financial incentives. "United's offer was better, but Mino Leola realised it would be better for Haaland to be with us.
"People notice that gifted people are the fastest to break through in us. This is a resounding argument for the players, the players' parents and the advisers. We have no limits for 17 year olds to play. Haaland's season so far has been affected by injuries and there are fears he may even miss the rest of the year because of hip flexor problems. Bild recently reported that Haaland had "torn a bundle of hip flexors," which would prevent him from attending full training for at least six weeks.
