At the end of 1947, the underground party organization in Qingdao of the Communist Party of China obtained all the radio calls of the Kuomintang Navy. The superiors attached great importance to it, but they believed that they could not grasp the enemy's situation only by calling signs and without the confidential code of the radio, so they asked the comrades who were lurking to make unremitting efforts to obtain the confidential code of the enemy's radio.
The radio code was a top-secret military document, and the Kuomintang army controlled it very strictly. Such documents are only seen by the captain or the telecommunications officer; the code is changed twice a year, and each time the code is changed, the captain or confidential secretary must go to the confidential room of the headquarters to collect it.

Qingdao during the Republic of China
This task was given to a red agent lurking in the Kuomintang Navy, whose name was Wu Rongsen.
Wu Rongsen is a native of Anqiu County, Shandong Province. In 1943, while studying at the Qingdao Commercial School, he was not willing to be a slave to the country and joined the underground anti-Japanese organization led by the Ccp. During the Liberation War, Wu Rongsen received secret work training at the seat of the Qingdao Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China in the Liberated Areas, and was ordered to return to Qingdao to engage in lurking work.
Wu Rongsen's public identity at that time was the confidential secretary of the 30th ship. The 30th was a submarine that Japan compensated China for after the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, with a displacement of only about 400 tons. Because the United States assisted a large number of more advanced naval ships of the Kuomintang after the victory of the War of Resistance, these Japanese compensation warships were treated coldly after coming to China. Taking the 30-ship as an example, its radio has not yet been activated, and Wu Rongsen naturally has no way to get the password through this ship.

Through communication with his superiors, the organization decided to try to promote Wu Rongsen to a lieutenant telecommunications officer through relations and transfer him to the warship radio. When you become a telecommunications officer, you will naturally be exposed to passwords.
How can Wu Rongsen be made a telecommunications officer? Xie Mazi, personnel staff officer of the Kuomintang Qingdao Naval Base Command, was the first pass. The underground party organization found a lot of connections, and took a Kuomintang naval officer, Zhang Zhennan, who was familiar with Xie Mazi. Through him, he recommended Wu Rongsen to Xie Mazi, saying that Wu had studied radio in the past and had a certain foundation in telecommunications technology, and that the post of telecommunications officer could be competent.
Wu Rongsen himself found that Xie Mazi's son was a classmate of his when he was studying radio, so he took advantage of his classmate relationship and often visited Xie's house to explain his desire to become a telecommunications officer, and asked his old classmate to say more nice things in front of his father. Once Wu Rongsen heard at Xie Mazi's house that Xie's wife wanted to make a gold bracelet, and immediately asked his brother-in-law (who was also an underground member of the CCP) for a sum of money, went to the silver building and hit a pair of gold bracelets with novel styles and fine patterns, and gave it to Xie Mazi. Xie Mazi was overjoyed, and his wife was even more praised. Xie Mazi this pass, this is not a problem.
Xie Mazi told Wu Rongsen that to become a telecommunications officer, he needed to go to the radio station of the Logistics Department of the Naval Base to pass the technical examination before he could go through the approval procedures. Wu Rongsen quickly passed the radio examination with excellent results, and Xie Mazi immediately handled the official document submitted for Wu, together with Wu's resume and assessment results, and reported it to the Ministry of National Defense in Nanjing for examination and approval.

Unexpectedly, the Quan Ministry did not approve Wu Rongsen's lack of seniority documents, and returned the official documents. Xie Mazi told Wu Rongsen that he must try to obtain a certificate of seniority, otherwise it would be difficult to handle. Naturally, this matter was not difficult for Wu Rongsen. Wu Rongsen found a teacher who had taught himself radio, and this teacher quickly forged a former lieutenant telecommunications officer for Wu through connections.
After the qualifications were completed, Xie Mazi reported it again, and this time it was successfully approved. However, although Wu Rongsen became a telecommunications officer, he could not get the password on the warship immediately, because this position was temporarily vacant.
In order to gather intelligence, Wu Rongsen often invited confidential personnel from the confidential room of the Naval Base Command to play in the confidential room, and while laughing with them, he read the approval documents for the promotion of enemy ranks. Once, a document was suddenly discovered informing the ships to receive the new password that was activated in the second half of 1948.
Wu Rongsen decided that he could not wait any longer and would try to take advantage of this opportunity to get this password. Wu Rongsen learned that the landing ship Lushan was to be docked for repairs, and that the ship had been notified to receive the password.
The Nationalist Navy once equipped with American landing ships
The confidential secretary of the Lushan warship was named Liu Guohua, and he had a good relationship with Wu Rongsen, and the Liu family had some distant relations with the Wu family, and in the past, Wu's mother had worked as a servant in the Liu family. Liu Guohua was more honest and did not join the Kuomintang secret service organization, so Wu Rongsen decided to immediately fight for him.
Wu Rongsen invited Liu Guohua's whole family to play in the name of his mother, and Liu gladly went there. During the banquet, Liu Guohua complained bitterly, dissatisfied with the authorities and disappointed in the future. Wu Rongsen took the opportunity to persuade him, and because his compatriot Liu Shanben (the founding major general) was unwilling to fight a civil war for Chiang Kai-shek, he resolutely took the opportunity to revolt and flew to the liberated areas, where he was commended by the people's government and enlightened Liu's consciousness. Liu Guohua was deeply moved and asked Wu to help him find a path to the light, hoping to take care of his wife and children when the Kuomintang was finished. Wu Rongsen agreed to his request, took the opportunity to learn from him about the Lushan warship, and asked whether the ship had received a radio code.
Liu Guohua said that the captain was timid and afraid of things, afraid that the warship would not be able to see the door well when it was docked, and if it lost the password, it would be shot, so the instructions were not allowed to go and get it.
After basically grasping the situation of the Lushan warship, Wu Rongsen decided to obtain the radio code through Liu Guohua. On June 25, Wu Rongsen saw a notice from the Naval Base Command, asking ships that had not yet received the new password to collect it quickly before July 1, and not issue it after the deadline. According to the regulations, the original of this kind of confidential document that exceeds the time limit must be returned to the Nanjing headquarters, and those who have not received it must go to Nanjing to collect it. Due to the pressure of time, it was necessary to make a decision at the moment, taking advantage of the opportunity that the captain of the Lushan ship was unwilling to receive the password, and let Liu Guohua impersonate him. If Liu Guohua did not agree, he would take the necessary measures to coerce him to do it.
At about 9:00 a.m. on June 26, Wu Rongsen stepped onto the deck of the Lushan ship and walked into Liu Guohua's office cabin, where there was no one else in the cabin, and Wu said to Liu: "The things you entrusted me to do are done for you." Liu replied happily: "Great. Wu then said, "They are all very reliable relationships, and now when people ask you to do something, just stamp an official seal and open a document." Liu Guohua began to think that as long as he stamped an official seal and opened a document, he could make meritorious atonement for his sins, felt very relaxed, and agreed with his mouth. When Wu Rongsen asked him to take out the document to obtain the password and go through the formalities, Liu's face was ugly, beads of sweat oozed from his forehead, and he did not say a word, like a wooden chicken.

At this time, Wu Rongsen took out a pistol and said to Liu: "People have the final say, the Communist Party gave me a gun, today either you kill me, or I kill you, it depends on whether you do it or not." "The atmosphere in the cabin was a bit tense. After a moment of silence, Liu Guohua finally plucked up enough courage to say, "Okay, I'll go get it right away." Wu saw that Liu was determined, so he encouraged him: "We are fellow countrymen, no one else will know, the Communist Party gives you the opportunity to make meritorious contributions and atone for your sins, after the fact, it is a great achievement, you are willing to go to the Liberated Areas whenever you will succeed, people will send you away." Don't worry about family issues, I am responsible for the placement. ”
Liu Guohua took out the documents, wrote a letter of introduction in the name of the captain, stamped the Lushan ship and the captain's seal, went with Wu to the confidential room of the naval base headquarters, calmly completed the collection procedures, took over the password of the three services, and left the headquarters compound, Liu handed the password to Wu Rongsen. Wu Rongsen carried a leather bag containing a code and went straight to the secret stronghold of the underground party organization. "Naval Confidential Code", "Army Aircraft Code", and "Air Force Confidential Code" were obtained.
Get the password, the task can only be counted as half completed, and then you have to find a way to send the password out. This task was given to the underground traffic officer Lu Xiucheng.
Lü Xiucheng was an old traffic officer, brave and resourceful, bold and careful, and had repeatedly brought out the important intelligence of the underground party and cleverly brought out the card gate that the enemy had carefully interrogated, and there had never been a problem.
However, this mission is of great importance. And the password that needs to be carried is sealed with paper bag fire paint, which is not small in size and difficult to hide on the body.
Since Lu Xiucheng received this task, he couldn't find a solution when he thought about it. The night was already very deep, and Lu Xiucheng was still thinking about this question. At this time, there was a sudden cry outside the window, and someone nearby died.
In those years, the Kuomintang authorities were corrupt, and the bureaucrats were enriching themselves, taking advantage of the chaos of the times and soaring prices to make a fortune for the country. In Qingdao City, almost every day there are frozen and starved to death, and as soon as there are more people who die, people will become numb.
In the morning, Lu Xiucheng looked at the funeral procession on the road, got inspiration from the spilled paper money, and thought of a brilliant plan.
Lu Xiucheng found a grocery store, bought back a large bundle of yellow paper for paper money, returned home and got busy, he dug a hole in the middle of the yellow paper, put the password in the hole, and then coded it neatly, so that people could not see a trace of anyone moving, and then tied it with a rope, and the next morning he was on the road.
Cangkou Banqiaofang is the only way for Qingdao to go to the Liberated Areas, where the Kuomintang has set up a card gate, and all ordinary people who enter and leave here must be inspected, and those fierce and vicious soldiers are rampant and overbearing, extorting and extorting for reasons, and often have to find a stubble when there is nothing to do.
When Lu Xiucheng came to Kazimen, there was already a long queue there, and there were many people who were ready to leave the city after being inspected. Lu Xiucheng dressed as a peasant, with an honest and honest appearance, deliberately inserted himself among several peasant-like people to receive a trumpet, while paying attention to observe whether today's inspection was different.
Suddenly, a middle-aged man who did not know what contraband he had been found to be carrying was caught and tied up, his head was broken, and his face was bleeding. People are being examined with trepidation, fearing that disasters may strike them at any time.
When Lu Xiucheng arrived, a soldier with a gun pointed at him and shouted, "Come here, what is on your back?"
"Yellow framed paper."
"What do you do when you don't have to carry yellow mounting paper during the New Year's Day?"
"The old man celebrates the anniversary, go home to the grave."
"True fucking obscurity, unravel it."
"Yes, boss."
Lü Xiucheng untied the paper from his back and placed it on the ground, squatted down and obediently untied the rope, and a large bundle of yellow paper was squarely placed in front of the Kuomintang soldiers. The soldier first looked around the paper, a neat bundle of yellow paper, and it didn't look like anyone had moved. To tell the truth, the matter has come to this point, there is nothing to check at all, but this soldier does not know whether it is to show seriousness, or to find stubble, but he is staring at this bundle of yellow paper, and he does not know what idea he is playing.
He first pounded the paper bundle with the butt of his rifle, and then crouched down and patted the paper bundle. Lü Xiucheng, who was usually bold and careful, couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat when the enemy soldier squatted down, especially when the enemy soldier slapped the yellow paper with his hand, his heart mentioned that his throat was eye-catching, and there was a feeling that he wanted to jump out. But reason also told him that he must be calm and composed, and that he must not take a desperate approach until he has no choice but to do so.
As a result, there was no strange noise, and the enemy soldiers did not see any flaws, so they reluctantly stood up and said, "I can't see that you old man is still a big filial piety!" Let's go. ”
Lu Xiucheng squatted down, bowed his head and did not hurry to bundle the paper, got up and carried it, did not change his face and did not beat his heart, steadily out of the card door, striding straight to the liberated area, completing the task of escorting the code. Since then, the People's Liberation Army has obtained the confidential code of the Kuomintang army, navy and air force in the second half of 1948, and the Kuomintang army has no secrets in front of the PLA. Soon, the Qingdao Municipal PARTY Committee received a commendation from the Jiaodong District Party Committee for the intelligence group.
Wu Rongsen later served as the leader of the underground radio group of the Qingdao Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and has been fighting in Qingdao.
On the eve of the liberation of Qingdao, the Kuomintang stepped up the search for and arrest of the CCP's lurking personnel, and a group of lurking red agents were sacrificed before dawn. The Kuomintang army also specially dispatched a radio reconnaissance unit to dispatch radio reconnaissance vehicles to search for secret radio stations everywhere, and the radio work of underground party organizations was seriously threatened.
Late at night on May 22, 1949, Wu Rongsen had just finished sending a telegram and was cleaning up the storage machine when the roar of a car motor suddenly sounded nearby. The noise was on the road beyond the high wall, turning around for a long time without stopping, but also refusing to leave, as if looking for something.
Liu Anqi, commander of the Kuomintang Qingdao Garrison District
To this end, on the afternoon of May 23, the underground radio leading group held an emergency meeting, decided to stop the reporting work that night, prevent the enemy from continuing to extend its claws, and decided to immediately transfer the radio station the next morning. For the sake of Wu Rongsen's safety, he was not allowed to go out for a step.
On the same night, a female traffic officer hurried back to say that the intelligence team of the Land and Land Transport Command had obtained an important piece of information, and the United Front Work Department asked that it be sent back to the organ that night so as not to miss the fighter. When Wu Rongsen opened the newspaper, it turned out to be Chiang Kai-shek's handwriting, to the effect that "the original regulations for evacuating Qingdao on May 25 were changed to June 2, and 15 freighters had been dispatched to transport more materials."
That night, Wu Rongsen went to the home of Xu Baoguang on Caoxian Road, where the secret radio station was located. Xu Baoguang was surprised and criticized Why Wu Rongsen did not carry out the order. Later, I heard that Wu Rongsen wanted to send a report, and I resolutely disagreed. Later, Wu Rongsen showed Xu Baoguang the request of his comrades in arms of the United Front Work Department and Chiang Kai-shek's handwriting, and said that the stakes were very high, and that even if he sacrificed himself, he would send this telegram. Wu Rongsen's determination touched Xu Baoguang, who not only supported the release of the newspaper that night, but also prepared the whole family to cover up and coexist and die.
In the early morning of May 24, 1949, Wu Rongsen turned on the machine and listened quietly, ignoring all the calls of the enemy Taiwan to induce the report. A few minutes before the announcement time arrived, the enemy station jamming signal suddenly shouted, and it was impossible to hear a single call signal. Later, Wu Rongsen gradually figured out the law of interference noise and began to distinguish the call of the organ desk.
Usually, a few crosses of telegrams are sent, that is, three or five minutes, but it took more than 20 minutes that night to send out. At that time, it was really thrilling, on the one hand, the organ desk could not hear clearly and asked for a repeat over and over again, while outside was the enemy's radio reconnaissance vehicle slowly approaching, Wu Rongsen was slowing down and playing the telegram over and over again, Xu Baoguang suddenly came over and hurriedly said, "I have heard the sound of the car, quickly shut down." However, Wu Rongsen still insisted on reissueing it, and finally the organ station expressed satisfaction, and Wu Rongsen turned off the hidden radio machine and immediately burned the newspaper and the code copy. At this time, through the glass window, you can already see the agents searching around the neighborhood with flashlights...
After liberation, Wu Rongsen served as a section member of the Political Protection Department of the Qingdao Municipal Public Security Bureau, the deputy secretary of the Third Branch of qingdao Industrial Company, the section member of the Organization Department of the Qingdao Municipal Cpc Committee, the manager of the Service Department of Qingdao Radio Station, the deputy director of the Central Experimental Station of Qingdao Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the deputy director of Qingdao Semiconductor Research Institute, and the director of Qingdao Seawater Comprehensive Utilization Research Institute. He died in Qingdao on September 10, 2018 at the age of 91.
