In the old saying, "the grasshopper shakes the tree" is used as a metaphor for people who do not measure up: how can a small ant shake a big tree? But a small spider reported in the Daily Mail on January 2 was able to "shook the tree": it dragged away a huge goldfish.
It happened in Barberton, South Africa. Jeremy Schalkwijk, a 33-year-old male tour guide, has a new girlfriend, Athina Yalias. The second date between the two was at Jeremy's house.
Jeremy would love to let his new girlfriend see his baby goldfish Cleo. He came to the fish pond first, when something happened to his surprise.
A spider appeared on the cement wall perpendicular to the pool at the edge of the fish pond, and it slowly climbed down until its body was immersed in the water, and then the spider inserted its teeth into the body of the goldfish Cleo, successfully dragging the big goldfish to the wall with its mouth and front legs.
Jeremy said he was startled by what he saw, but he pulled out his phone and took a picture.
After that, Jeremy hurried back to the room and asked Athena to come and see, but unfortunately, when the two returned to the pool, the spider and Jeremy's baby goldfish were gone.
Thankfully, Jeremy had pictures in his hand that proved he wasn't lying.
In fact, the spider is a Nursery Web Spider, also known as a thief spider, which is uncommon, but they do have "fishing" skills.
