According to historical records, the music and dance programs of the Southern and Northern Dynasties and the Sui and Tang Dynasties (420-907 AD) had "kamen-shaming songs and dances". The Old Book of Tang and Music Records records that "the large face came from Northern Qi, and the king of Northern Qi lanling, Gao Changgong, often wore a mask to fight against the enemy." Historical records also record that the face genealogy is the gradual evolution of the mask worn by the music and dance face of the Tang Dynasty and the clean face of the military drama.

Due to the different regions where the Qin Cavity originated, the Qin Cavity face mask is also colorful and different in style. In Shaanxi, it is divided into the East Road style (centered on the Weinan region), the Middle Road style (centered on Xi'an), the West Road style (centered on the Baoji area), the South Road style (centered on the Hanzhong region), and the four-way style has also been formed in Gansu, namely the Longdong style (centered on Pingliang and Qingyang), the Longnan style (centered on Tianshui), the Longzhong style (centered on Dingxi), and the Lanzhou "Geng" school. The Qin Opera repertoire is vast, and there was once a recipe for "Tang Sanqian, Han Eight Hundred, and Three Nations That Can't Be Performed". According to the statistics of the China Qin Cavity Museum (Lanzhou Museum), there are now more than 3200 Qin operas (excluding shadow puppets and puppet plays), and a considerable part of the plays have been lost and cannot be verified.
