Henan University for the first time! Zhengzhou University achieved a good result in the ICPC World Finals

On the 29th, Zhengzhou University sent good news, and in the 44th International Collegiate Programming Competition World Finals (ICPC World Finals) held in Moscow recently, the ACM representative team of Zhengzhou University won the online track Top 50% Award award with the 27th place in the world. This is the first time that Zhengzhou University has entered the world finals of the International College Student Programming Competition, and has achieved a breakthrough of "zero" in the competition of henan universities.

It is understood that the team is guided by Wu Yunpeng, Zhao Dongming, Song Yu, Lu Hongxing and Tian Zhen of the School of Information Engineering, Chen Yang, a 2017 student of the School of Information Engineering, Su Tong, a 2019 student of the International College, and Zhang Siwei, a 2018 student of the School of Software. The International Collegiate Programming Competition (ICPC) is the world's most influential collegiate programming competition, divided into regional preliminaries and world finals. Affected by the epidemic, the finals were divided into two tracks, online and offline, and domestic promoting universities chose to participate in the competition online, and the participating teams were selected from more than 56,000 participants from more than 3,400 universities in 111 countries around the world. In the online competition, each team consists of three people, and each team needs to use three computers at the same time to solve various complex programming problems within the specified 5 hours, fully testing their professional skills, innovative thinking, team spirit and ability to withstand pressure.

Previously, Zhengzhou University performed well in the 44th ACM International Collegiate Programming Competition asian regional competitions, ranking among the best in terms of total points, and 18 domestic universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, Nanjing University and other 18 universities in China reached the world finals, competing with more than 160 teams and more than 480 players from Harvard University, Cambridge University, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Tokyo and other universities.

"Sixteen years of perseverance, the efforts of generations of people have finally come to this day!" Team instructor Wu Yunpeng sighed. The ACM-ICPC Laboratory of the School of Information Engineering of Zhengzhou University was established in 2005 to train and organize teams to participate in a series of competitions such as the International College Student Programming Competition. From the bronze, silver and gold medals in the regional preliminary rounds to the current world finals, ACM-ICPC Laboratory has achieved "zero" breakthroughs again and again, and has also witnessed the development and innovation of Zhengzhou University.

At present, on the basis of the management structure of "recruiting new people + active duty + retiring", ACM-ICPC Laboratory adopts the characteristic education mode of "training in batches on a regular basis", "veterans with new recruits" and "building team culture", and constantly delivers down-to-earth information technology talents for the country. For the future, Wu Yunpeng is full of expectations, he hopes to lead the team to create new achievements in the following competitions, achieve new breakthroughs, and contribute to the construction of the school's world-class university.
