If you have seen "Qianlong Dynasty", you know that in his early years, he served in the Ah Gui Army as a third-class light car lieutenant, and later rose all the way to the top because of the investigation and handling of The Inspector of Gansu, Wang Qiwang. Moreover, in the play, the relationship between Ah Gui and He Yan is not bad overall, and it is not a pair of political enemies. However, in history, their relationship is not the case, and I will make a simple comparison here.

Ah Gui was one of the most important military generals in the middle and late Qianlong period, a Manchurian Zhenglan Bannerman, who was later carried into the Zhengbai Banner. His father, Actun, was a scholar of the Qianlong Dynasty and a shangshu of the Punishment Department. With such a prominent family lineage, Ah Gui's start was obviously better than that of Hezhen, and he was promoted to military aircraft Zhang Jing as Lang Zhong. Of course, Ah Gui was also implicated by Ne Qin and Zhang Guangsi, and was almost executed by Qianlong, because he remembered that his father was old and was an only son, and Qianlong only opened his eyes and did not punish him.
Ah Gui's real prosperity was mainly due to the use and management of troops in the northwest, and he defended the northwest frontier for a long time. During the Qianlong Dynasty, Ah Gui participated in the Battle of Daxiaojinchuan, the Rebellion of Dahe Zhuo, the Rebellion of Lin Shuangwen in Taiwan, and the Battle against Gorkha. The basis of Ah Gui's success was the establishment of outstanding military merit. In the Qing Dynasty, there was no merit higher than the gold content of military merit, so Ah Gui was always trusted during the Qianlong Dynasty.
Unlike Yan Ze, his life was not prominent, although he was also diligent and studious in his early years, but the most important thing was the promotion of his father-in-law's incorruptibility, from a small bodyguard all the way up, and eventually became the first red man in Qianlong's later years. Wakan's success is inseparable from his own efforts, but there are also many accidental factors.
In the later years of Qianlong, the Qianlong Emperor had lost the entrepreneurial passion of his early years, was uncontrolled in his life, and the palace spending was increasing. His "Ten Great Martial Arts" look bright and beautiful on the face, but behind it are hundreds of millions of military expenditures, and the national treasury has basically been hollowed out.
Qianlong has a good face, talks about pomp and circumstance, beats a swollen face and becomes fat, and the financial situation of the Great Qing Dynasty is even worse, but the disguise of "Qianlong's prosperous life" cannot be torn off. Then it is bound to be open source, and Hezhen is such an open source expert, but he is not actively carrying out financial reforms, but through some illegal means to amass wealth for Qianlong, in the final analysis, Qianlong uses Hezhen to use the money he got.
Qianlong has a different position in his heart for Ah Gui and He Yan, Ah Gui is a heavy minister of the country, and it is absolutely impossible to do without him in times of crisis; He Yan is a favorite minister who maintains his face and personal needs, and if he wants to maintain a luxurious life while not leaving a handle, this basin is most suitable for buckled on He Yan's head.
It can be seen from this that both Ah Gui and He Yan are very important in Qianlong's view, and both are indispensable. This is also an important reason why they can always maintain a balance of power between them.
In fact, in the last few years of Qianlong's reign, He yan's arrogance was higher than That of Ah Gui. He installed cronies and power in the opposition, which made Ah Gui hate him very much. But Ah Gui knew very well that as long as the Qianlong Emperor was still there, he could not subdue him and bring him to justice. At that time, there were also many people in the DPRK and China who dared to openly oppose Hezhen, such as Wang Jie, Dong Chen, and others who took a clear stand on ah gui's side. As for Liu Yong and Ji Xiaolan, in order to protect themselves, they were all in harmony with He Yan in their faces.
Because he hated Hezhen, Ah Gui deliberately avoided Hezhen every time he went on duty, dozens of steps away from him. He Yan also intended to show his kindness to him, so he deliberately ran to Ah Gui to talk to him. Ah Gui always likes to answer and ignore, copes with things, and insists on staying still, never moving forward half a step.
In his later years, due to old age and frail health, Ah Gui once fell ill in the palace duty room, and the military aircraft Zhang Jingguan Shiming went to visit him. Ah Gui thought that Guan Shiming was a man of integrity and honesty, and usually cared for and respected him, so he said to him:
"I am eighty years old this year, my life is seventy years old, I have lived so old, I can already die; I have become a very popular subject, I am in and out, the emperor is extremely favored, I am very satisfied, in this regard, I can also die; my descendants are also very contentious, they are already officials in various ministries, my wishes are very satisfied, and I can die." The reason why I refused to die was to wait for the emperor (Jiaqing) to take over the government, so that I could see the emperor get rid of this traitor with my own eyes. That way I can die without hate, or I won't be blind. “
Unfortunately, Ah Gui's last wish was not fulfilled, and he died in October of the second year of Jiaqing (1797) at the age of 81, more than a year before Hezhen. If you follow Ah Gui's own words, he is really dead.
