The preservation of Xishuangbanna Camellia Chicken benefited from the preliminary work of the relevant departments in Yunnan Province and Xishuangbanna Prefecture in the late 1980s, and the Camellia Chicken has maintained a relatively primitive state, which is rarely contaminated by foreign breed genes, providing a prerequisite for the company to develop Camellia Chicken. The name of camellia chicken is derived from the "camellia two flowers" whose name is similar to the local language, so it is called camellia chicken.

Ge Changrong, vice president of Yunnan Agricultural University, introduced that in 2018, Yunnan had 220 million poultry in the annual stock and 350 million poultry in the pen, and the local chicken breed resources were unique and rich, and the current 21 breed resources ranked among the best in the country. However, over the years, the research on the development of germplasm resources has mainly focused on resource evaluation and investigation, and no effective breeding technology and varieties (lines) with independent intellectual property rights have been formed. It is reported that Yunling Guangda established Xishuangbanna Yunling Camellia Chicken Industry Development Co., Ltd. in November 2012 in Jinghong, Xishuangbanna, and has invested more than 30 million yuan since 2013 to transform and invest in the construction of the original breeding farm of Gala Camellia Chicken (national conservation farm) and the construction of a new Puwen Camellia Chicken Breeding Center.

Among them, the original breeding farm of Tea Flower Chicken (Camellia Chicken National Conservation Farm) and the Puwen Camellia Chicken Breeding Center are mainly for the protection of the original breed of Camellia Chicken, and the breeding of Tea Flower Chicken No. 1 and No. 2 supporting lines.
Yunling Camellia Chicken No. 1 (egg type) new breed supporting line breeding is currently the first in China to carry out local egg type breeding specialized breeds (do not import foreign high-yield layer chicken blood). Yang Xiangdong introduced that the No. 1 supporting chicken is relatively small, the rooster weighs 1.85-1.95kg in 120 days, and the hen is 1.55-1.65kg, but the egg production rate is high. The number of eggs laid by breeders in the egg laying cycle is more than 180, the fertilization rate is more than 93%, the incubation rate of fertilized eggs is more than 93%, and the healthy cone rate is more than 97%, while the egg-type Camellia Chicken No. 1 supporting line has produced more than 200 eggs during the egg laying period.

Camellia Chicken No. 2 supporting breeding line has more than 180 eggs in the egg laying cycle, with a fertilization rate of more than 92%, a fertilized egg hatching rate of more than 93%, and a health maintenance rate of more than 97%. 120-day-old roosters weigh 2.1-2.3 kg and hens 1.75-1.85 kg. Since 2018, it has begun to promote more than 2 million pigeons to the market, and it is expected to promote 7 million birds in 2019, achieving better results.

At present, the breeding of Yunling Camellia Chicken No. 1 and No. 2 (meat type) has reached the fourth and fifth generations respectively, and the disease (two white) purification has been carried out from the original species to each generation, and the nutritional research of the new supporting system of sub-breeders and commercial chickens has been carried out, and the special feed for local chicken meat type has been developed. At the end of May 2019, the supporting department of Yunling Camellia Chicken No. 2 has been sent to the Jiangsu Poultry Research Institute for performance measurement of new varieties, and it is planned to declare the national new variety approval in 2021. In March 2015, the original breeding farm of Tea Flower Chicken was awarded the "National Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources Breeding Farm";
In 2015, it was awarded the "State-level Key Leading Enterprise" in Xishuangbanna, the "Broiler Standardization Demonstration Field" issued by the Yunnan Department of Agriculture in December 2015, and the "Animal Disease Purification Creation Field" by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in November 2016.
It is reported that the small outpost (ancestral chicken farm) has started to produce 50,000 sets of Yunling Camellia Chicken No. 2 Parent Breeder Version, which can provide more than 7 million commercial chicken seedlings in 2019, and plans to produce and sell more than 15 million chicken seedlings in 2020, which will become an important local chicken breed in Yunnan Province.

Scoop chicken: The only chicken in our country, or even the world, without a tail
Camellia chicken is currently one of the two major breeds in Yunling, and the other is the only local chicken breed in China that has no tail - the scoop chicken.
The origin of the name of the scoop chicken has an important relationship with its appearance. Because there is no ordinary chicken's towering tail, the tail of the scoop chicken is "missing" (no tail feathers, no tailpits, no tail fat glands, no tail vertebrae, no tail bones), which looks like a "scoop", so it is called a scoop chicken. As the only breed without a tail in China and even in the world, the scoop chicken has a special brand development significance in genes.
Zhenyuan Yunling Guangda Scoop Chicken Original Breeding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the company, is an integrated and industrialization company dedicated to the preservation, breeding, new product development and sales of scoop chickens, and can provide farmers with more than 2 million high-quality commodity chicken seedlings every year.
