The Taiwan Regional Epidemic Command Center said on October 29 that there was the first case of infection with the subrecontant AY.4.2 of the Delta strain of the new coronavirus variant virus strain in Taiwan. The man, an asymptomatic infected man who tested positive for the virus during the centralized quarantine at entry, is currently in hospital isolation. The director of the Institute of Genetics at University College London pointed out that if preliminary research evidence is confirmed, AY.4.2 will be the most contagious covid-19 variant since the COVID-19 pandemic, and AY.4.2 appears to be 10% to 15% more transmissible than the DELTA strain.
